About Atrea

Atrea helps organisations simplify and automate their Workforce Management: from time registration and access control to workforce planning, leave, absence and reporting. As part of Share Company Group, we develop data-driven IT solutions that help organisations work more efficiently and make the best use of their people.

We continuously improve and renew our software to give our customers a better, smarter and more user-friendly experience. With a strong focus on data, technology and innovation, we work closely with our customers on reliable solutions that make a real impact.

Keep our platforms running and make them better

As Operations Engineer you work across different products within our platform. One product runs on a fleet of dedicated per-customer servers; the other is a multi-tenant SaaS platform. Both use IIS and SQL Server, alongside Azure services. You split your time roughly 80% DevOps and 20% data & development, with the work focused mainly on SQL and monitoring and fixing data issues. You own and improve our CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, database operations and monitoring across both products. You also contribute to the gradual modernisation of our platforms, containerisation, wider use of Azure services and centralised monitoring, while keeping existing production environments reliable.

We are looking for an experienced engineer who works independently, troubleshoots across application and infrastructure layers, and spots practical improvements to our development and operational processes.

Your growth at Atrea

You start by getting to know Atrea, our customers, the products and how they are built, deployed and run today. As you grow, you take ownership of larger parts of our deployment, database and monitoring landscape, and you can develop towards a senior or lead role in platform and reliability engineering.

Along the way you get the opportunity to shape the modernisation of our platforms: containerisation, Azure-managed services, infrastructure as code and the use of AI and automation in operations.

What success looks like

• Reliable, repeatable deployments with clear rollback and recovery procedures.

• Better visibility into application, infrastructure and database health across both products.

• Less manual operational work through automation and standardised practices.

• Reliable database operations with tested backup and restore procedures.

• Gradual, pragmatic modernisation of the platforms without compromising existing production environments.

• Effective collaboration with backend developers and operations to resolve issues and improve the reliability and maintainability of both products.

What will you do?

DevOps and infrastructure (≈80%)

CI/CD and release engineering:

• Own, maintain and improve the CI/CD pipelines of both products.

• Automate deployments across our fleet of dedicated per-customer servers with Bitbucket Pipelines, self-hosted runners, PowerShell and Ansible (Semaphore UI).

• Maintain and improve build and release workflows for our multi-tenant SaaS platform with TeamCity and Octopus Deploy.

• Improve deployment reliability, rollback procedures and consistency across build, release and environment practices.

• Adapt build and release pipelines as the SaaS platform moves to modern .NET.

Cloud and infrastructure:

• Operate and evolve our Azure footprint, including Azure Functions, Service Bus, Blob Storage and Container Apps.

• Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues in Windows and Linux environments.

• Contribute to modernising our deployment architecture: containerising suitable services and adopting Azure-managed services where it makes sense.

• Automate repetitive operational tasks and improve infrastructure configuration, documentation and maintainability.

Monitoring, reliability and security:

• Build and improve centralised logging, monitoring and alerting across both products.

• Troubleshoot deployment failures and production issues across application, infrastructure and database layers.

• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks and recovery procedures.

• Apply security best practices for secrets, access control, TLS and server configuration.

• Support production incidents and planned releases according to the team's support arrangements.

SQL Server and database operations (≈20%)

• Operate SQL Server across both deployment models: dedicated customer databases and shared multi-tenant databases.

• Manage and improve backup and restore procedures, database maintenance, monitoring and capacity planning.

• Write and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures and contribute to data synchronisation and other database changes.

What does your week look like?

About 80% of your time goes to DevOps and infrastructure, e.g. pipelines, deployments, Azure, monitoring and security, and 20% to SQL Server operations, SQL development and writing stored procedures. Part of your work is planned improvement; part is responding to what production needs, within the team's support arrangements.

What do you bring?

Professional experience: Typically 3+ years across operations and SQL engineering, with the practical skills and autonomy the role needs.

SQL Server: Practical experience writing T-SQL queries and stored procedures, and familiarity with backups, restores, maintenance and monitoring.

CI/CD: Strong hands-on experience building, maintaining and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines. TeamCity and Octopus Deploy are preferred; comparable platforms are fine if you can show transferable knowledge.

Azure: Practical experience deploying or operating Azure services. Experience with Azure Functions, Service Bus, Blob Storage or Container Apps is valuable; you don't need to know every service.

Scripting: Practical PowerShell experience and the ability to work with Bash.

Operating systems: Comfortable in both Linux and Windows environments, and able to troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues.

Git: Familiar with branching strategies, code reviews and release workflows.

Problem-solving and ownership: You investigate issues systematically, work across application and infrastructure boundaries, automate recurring tasks and take responsibility for improvements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
