The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will work closely with Burn Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Mass General Brigham (MGB) Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) teams to support the care of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with complex burn injuries, scars, congenital differences, and reconstructive needs. The role provides exposure to a diverse patient population and a broad clinical practice spanning acute inpatient care, outpatient management, perioperative care, and long-term follow-up.

This position is ideal for a provider who enjoys collaborative practice, values relationship-based care, and is passionate about supporting children and families through every stage of treatment and recovery. Candidates with experience in pediatric burn care, pediatric surgery, pediatric critical care, pediatric emergency medicine, wound care, plastic surgery, or related specialties are encouraged to apply. Exceptional new graduates with relevant clinical experience will also be considered.

This is a part-time position working three 10-hour daytime shifts per week, scheduled between 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flexible scheduling is available, though regular Friday availability is required. There are no night, weekend, holiday, or call responsibilities, offering an excellent work-life balance within a highly specialized pediatric practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to pediatric patients throughout the continuum of burn recovery, reconstruction, and rehabilitation.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop differential diagnoses, formulate treatment plans, and initiate appropriate clinical interventions.
  • Manage patients on the inpatient unit, including those requiring ICU-level care, in collaboration with Mass General Brigham PICU attendings and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Burn Surgeons, Plastic Surgeons, nursing staff, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated, family-centered care.
  • Perform pre-operative evaluations, post-operative management, surgical admissions, discharge planning, and ongoing follow-up care.
  • Independently manage outpatient clinic visits for 15+ patients per day, evaluating and treating pediatric patients from birth through age 21.
  • Assess and manage acute burn injuries, complex wounds, skin conditions requiring wound care, burn scars, severe hand deformities, and cleft lip and palate anomalies.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding wound care, scar management, postoperative recovery, treatment plans, and long-term care needs.
  • Coordinate care across inpatient, outpatient, surgical, rehabilitation, and community settings to ensure continuity of care and optimal outcomes.
  • Perform and assist with clinical procedures including vascular access (IV placement), phlebotomy, dressing applications, blister management, and non-excisional wound debridement.
  • Evaluate burn wounds and monitor healing progress, adjusting treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care in partnership with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Facilitate effective communication among patients, families, physicians, consultants, and care team members.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives that support excellence in pediatric burn and reconstructive care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and professional standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • 1 year of advanced practice clinical experience preferred; however, exceptional new graduates with prior burn care experience will also be considered
  • Experience in pediatric burn care, pediatric surgery, pediatric critical care, pediatric emergency medicine, wound care, plastic surgery, or other related pediatric specialties is highly desirable
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or equivalent board certification in applicable specialty area, such as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC, CPNP-PC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of practice.
  • Must possess eligibility for active DEA.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
