The posting

  1. To evaluate the Piping engineering demands of projects and assess the consequent time/manpower requirements.
  2. To provide the manpower resources and tools required to execute the project.
  3. To allocate work to departmental staff.
  4. To monitor the progress of Piping engineering documents through the computerised Document Management System (DMS) and the Document Controller (like weekly progress and status report).
  5. To review specifications and drawings.
  6. To ensure that the management and administrative systems and controls are followed.
  7. To ensure that the Safety Management System and Quality Assurance requirements are followed throughout the engineering phase.
  8. To participate in Design/Model reviews.
  9. To provide technical expertise, drive and guidance to Piping engineering activity.
  10. To examine and find solutions for complex Piping engineering challenges.
  11. To evaluate engineering proposals made by staff and make decisions on their implementation.
  12. To discuss the project deliverables with Engineering Project Managers and to ensure their timely and cost-effective execution.
  13. To ensure that all relevant QMS and Departmental Working Instructions are correctly followed in the engineering phase.
  14. To represent the department and/or Company at meetings, in Sidvin office or wherever elsewhere worldwide, with client, subcontractors, suppliers and classification societies.
  15. To represent the department at internal Company meetings.
  16. To visit suppliers and monitor their activities.
  17. To evaluate bids and documentation from suppliers.
  18. To advise the Senior Manager of all extra-ordinary matters arising in Piping engineering activities.
  19. To prepare design change list and change notices.
  20. To keep abreast of relevant developments in Piping engineering with respect to the metals and mining industry in general and the Company's business in particular.
  21. To motivate the departmental staff and encourage ideas and engineering solutions which enhance Company performance.
  22. To ensure that the Piping engineering manning levels and associated costs are constantly matched to the Company's needs and interests.
  23. To perform preliminary assessments of job applicants, interview short-listed candidates and make recommendations on suitability.
  24. To enhance staff skill levels with respect to market or customer requirements. Ensure adequate training is provided to staff to discharge their duties.
  25. To evaluate the tools used to perform piping engineering are adequate and advice the superior on requirements to advance in future.
  26. To conduct regular staff meetings.
  27. To perform routine personnel tasks, including regular evaluations.
  28. To make presentations and represent the Company to clients.
  29. To attend or depute staff to training courses, seminars etc. when required.
  30. To manage the Cadd Support activities.
  31. Any other relevant activities as defined by the Management.
