Job Description

Position: Director, Asset Management

Location: Remote

Overview: This position leads the Asset Management function for Silicon Ranch's operating fleet of over 200 solar plants (~4 GW DC), a portfolio expected to experience substantial growth over the next four years. The Director owns the commercial and financial performance of every operating asset, leads the Asset Management team, and serves as Silicon Ranch's commercial lead with offtakers, utilities, O&M providers, OEMs, and financing parties. The role builds and runs Asset Management as a scalable function: clear ownership, strong operating controls, a consistent commercial cadence with every counterparty, and quantitative, actionable reporting to executive leadership.

Main Responsibilities:

Lead the Asset Management function

  • Lead, build, and develop the Asset Management team, including Associates, Asset Managers, Sr. Asset Managers, and REC management.
  • Set the Asset Management strategy, KPIs, and operating cadence for the operating fleet, and own the outcomes.
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and decision authority by level, with portfolio assignments, backups, and escalation paths.
  • Build a scalable staffing, tooling, and hiring plan for a fleet expected to experience substantial growth in the coming years, moving manual tracking into Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
  • Hold the Asset Management team accountable for commercial results across their portfolios, including contract enforcement and recoveries.

Commercial and contractual performance

  • Responsible for the commercial operation and performance of the Silicon Ranch fleet, meeting all PPA, interconnection, REC, warranty, O&M, and financing obligations. Identify areas of risk and recommend specific action to improve performance.
  • Own revenue integrity end to end: invoiced production, curtailment billing and compensation, meter scaling, settlement true-ups, and handoffs to Accounting and AR.
  • Ensure every site has an active utility account, a named utility contact, and paid station-power bills established before COD.
  • Oversee the REC program for current and new facilities generating RECs on behalf of Silicon Ranch or our customers, including registries, retirement obligations, penalties, and buyer and broker demand.
  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact with offtakers, utilities, and other key customers, with up to 15% travel to operating sites and counterparties.

Financial health of the operating portfolio

  • Understand and manage each asset against its financing structure: project finance debt, tax equity, sale-leaseback, and back-leverage.
  • Monitor debt service coverage ratio (DSCR), lockup and distribution tests, covenants, and reserve accounts (DSRA, MMRA, O&M reserves), and how operating performance and cost drive them.
  • Support lender, tax equity, and independent engineer reporting, and meet notice and consent requirements for material contract changes, major repairs, and insurance claims.
  • Partner with Finance and Project Controls on budgets, accruals, reserve planning, early buyout (EBO) analysis, and variance explanations tied to operating drivers.

Commercial lead for O&M providers and OEMs

  • Manage contracted O&M services and recommend where better outcomes can be obtained through self-performance, in partnership with the VP of Asset Operations.
  • Know and enforce the operative terms of every O&M, availability guarantee, warranty, and service agreement: scope, MTTR, preventive maintenance, LDs, bonuses, caps, and cure periods.
  • Enforce contractual remedies for counterparty shortfalls, including formal notices, LDs, payment withholding, disputed invoices, warranty claims, and escalation where warranted.
  • Track claims, notices, and recoveries across the portfolio, with clear ownership, dollars at issue, and next steps.
  • Manage invoices and proposals for repairs and services for the operating fleet.
  • Maintain O&M and OEM performance scorecards and lead contract establishment, amendments, side letters, and renewals with Legal.

Performance monitoring and controls

  • Escalate significant issues to leadership early, with a clear recommendation.
  • Establish a daily performance and anomaly review process to identify billing, metering, and performance issues early, with root cause analysis and corrective controls.

Onboarding and compliance

  • Own the commercial readiness of new projects from construction handoff through Final Acceptance: contract checklists, utility accounts, metering, REC registration, and reporting setup.
  • Ensure all facilities operate in accordance with applicable regulatory and commercial requirements, including compliance reporting.
  • Partner with Operational Compliance on the NERC program for registered assets, including GO/GOP registration readiness and the Asset Management portion of the NERC RACI.

Reporting and continuous improvement

  • Prepare financial reports and presentations for company executives, including the monthly executive review, weekly reports, and Board and investor inputs.
  • Communicate fleet performance to leadership quantitatively, with clear recommendations.
  • Set priorities for the Asset Management team toward the tasks with the greatest financial impact.
  • Partner with Performance and Remote Operations on tools that analyze fleet data, find trends, and identify root causes of the most impactful equipment failures.
  • Identify and lead improvements to the function, with quantified impact.
  • Support acquisitions, refinancing, and EBOs with operational and commercial diligence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, science, or mathematics. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years in power generation or utility-scale renewable energy, with at least 5 in asset management, commercial operations, or project finance.
  • 3+ years leading teams with portfolio-level accountability.
  • Experience managing claims, warranty recoveries, and contract enforcement with O&M providers, OEMs, or EPCs.
  • Experience with project-financed, tax equity, or sale-leaseback assets, including lender and investor reporting. Solar power experience highly desired.

Technical:

  • Working knowledge of DSCR, covenants, reserve accounts, and cash waterfalls.
  • Working knowledge of PPA and offtake structures, settlement, and interconnection obligations.
  • Working knowledge of solar plant SCADA, data acquisition, and CMMS software, and of performance drivers such as availability, curtailment, and inverter and tracker reliability.
  • Working knowledge of NERC and FERC registration and GO/GOP obligations, and of REC markets and registries.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with Power BI or Microsoft Fabric preferred.
  • Ability to use data to make recommendations, drive decisions, and communicate clearly to executive leadership.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and commercially strong leader who owns outcomes and works with substantial autonomy while keeping leadership informed of fleet activities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
