TECHNICAL ARCHITECT, MIGRATIONS

Location: AU-Melbourne / AU-Sydney | Team: Professional Services

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don't just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset, rapidly testing emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

Snowflake is about empowering enterprises to achieve their full potential, and people too. With a culture that's all in on impact, innovation, and collaboration, Snowflake is the sweet spot for building big, moving fast, and taking technology and careers to the next level.

Our Professional Services Migrations team helps customers across Australia and New Zealand move their most important data workloads from legacy platforms to the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. As a Technical Architect, you will be the hands-on technical lead on migration projects. You will design the target architecture and guide customers and partners from assessment through to go-live.

AS A TECHNICAL ARCHITECT, MIGRATIONS AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL:

- Lead the technical design of migrations from Teradata, Oracle, Netezza, SQL Server, Hadoop and other legacy platforms to Snowflake, covering data, code, pipelines and security.

- Run migration assessments, analyse legacy code and workloads, and produce clear migration plans, estimates and target architectures.

- Use SnowConvert and Snowflake migration accelerators to automate SQL, stored procedure and ETL conversion, and guide teams on the parts that need manual work.

- Modernise data pipelines with Snowpark, Dynamic Tables, Snowpipe, and Streams and Tasks, and design for performance, cost and governance on Snowflake.

- Plan and run data validation, performance testing and cutover so customers move to production with confidence.

- Act as the trusted technical advisor to customer architects, engineering leaders and SI partners, and solve complex technical issues on site and remotely.

- Support Professional Services sales by scoping migration work, reviewing code assessments and shaping Statements of Work.

- Turn lessons from the field into reusable migration patterns, accelerators and best practices, and share feedback with Snowflake Product and Engineering.

OUR IDEAL TECHNICAL ARCHITECT, MIGRATIONS WILL HAVE:

- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing or database architecture, including customer-facing consulting or delivery work.

- Hands-on experience leading at least one large data warehouse or database migration to a cloud data platform.

- Deep SQL skills and strong knowledge of data modeling, performance tuning and data warehouse design.

- Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, DataStage, Talend, dbt or similar, and with orchestration and pipeline design.

- Programming experience in Python, Java or Scala.

- Working knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).

- Clear communication with technical teams and business stakeholders, including leading workshops and presenting recommendations.

- Ability to travel to customer sites within Australia and New Zealand as needed.

BONUS POINTS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

- SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced Architect certification.

- Experience with SnowConvert or other automated code conversion tools.

- Experience using GenAI or Snowflake Cortex AI to speed up code conversion, testing or data validation.

- Background in Teradata, Oracle Exadata or Hadoop administration or development.

- Experience working with SI partners on large delivery programs.

WHY JOIN OUR TEAM AT SNOWFLAKE? You will help some of the largest organisations in Australia and New Zealand move off legacy systems and get the full value of their data on Snowflake. You will work on complex, high-impact technical problems, learn from a global community of migration experts, and help shape the tools and methods Snowflake uses to deliver migrations around the world.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
