Job Description

Socomec Group (Socomec) is a global leader in electrical equipment engineering and manufacturing, specialized in low voltage energy performance. Socomec North America (NAM) is Socomec’s organization overseeing all operations in North America.

About This Role

This role supports Suwanee operations and related product activities through cross-functional Mechanical Engineering, sustaining engineering, manufacturing support, product maintenance, and continuous improvement. The position collaborates with Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software, Systems, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to maintain product quality, resolve operational and field issues, and implement controlled product improvements.

The position supports prototype builds, pilot production, product qualification, engineering changes, supplier development, corrective actions, and product lifecycle documentation. The role operates under shared functional direction from Swanee Operations and Mechanical Engineering to ensure alignment between immediate operational priorities and established engineering standards, processes, and product requirements.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Systems Engineering to integrate mechanical and electrical subsystems and resolve product-level interface issues.
  • Support manufacturing during prototype builds, pilot production, product launches, assembly, troubleshooting, retrofit, and implementation of engineering changes.
  • Investigate production, field, service, and customer-reported issues; identify root causes and develop practical corrective or product-improvement solutions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Implement controlled engineering changes and product enhancements, including updates to 3D models, drawings, BOMs, specifications, work instructions, and associated ERP/PDM records.
  • Work with suppliers, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality to develop, review, qualify, and improve fabricated, machined, molded, and sheet-metal components.
  • Support value engineering, cost-reduction, standardization, material optimization, part consolidation, and process-improvement initiatives without compromising product requirements or quality, applying DFM and DFA principles when developing or modifying components and assemblies.
  • Support product qualification, verification, validation, and certification activities by preparing test samples, documenting requirements, coordinating technical inputs, and addressing resulting design actions.
  • Prepare and maintain complete and accurate engineering documentation in accordance with company engineering processes, document-control requirements, ISO 9001, and applicable Standards of Work.

Essential Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing, both technical and hands-on.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting manufactured products through production, product changes, troubleshooting, qualification, or continuous improvement.
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet-metal fabrication, machining, welding, molding, finishing, and mechanical assembly.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, Supply Chain, and external suppliers.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, change records, investigation reports, and controlled manufacturing documentation.
  • Working knowledge of root-cause analysis, corrective-action processes, risk assessment, DFM/DFA, and engineering change control.
  • Ability to balance urgent operational needs with controlled engineering practices, product requirements, quality expectations, and longer-term improvement priorities.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, organization, communication, and stakeholder-coordination skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America without company sponsorship.

Technical:

  • Proficient in SolidWorks (preferred) CAD systems, with strong emphasis on Sheetmetal, DFM and DFA, Drawings, BOMs, PDM and large assembly modules.
  • Engineering change management, including ECR, ECO, ECN, drawing revisions, BOM updates, and controlled implementation under Product lifecycle documentation using PDM, PLM, ERP, or equivalent controlled systems.
  • Manufacturing and assembly troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and structured problem solving with quality-system awareness, including ISO 9001, nonconformance and traceability.
  • Preparation of technical reports, investigation summaries, work instructions, and change documentation.

Management:

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple production, product-support, and improvement priorities while maintaining clear action tracking and schedule visibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical issues, risks, decisions, and required actions to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Capable of working under shared functional direction while maintaining clear accountability, avoiding conflicting priorities, and escalating unresolved ownership or technical issues.
  • This role is located in an office and remote environment (at management’s discretion), with regular visits to the manufacturing, test bay and assembly environment.
  • Must be available for frequent business travel to locations in Canada and/or USA, and eventual travels to Europe. Must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel.
  • Commitment to Health and Safety best practice and regulations.
  • Adherence to company policies.

Compensation range: $95,000 – $105,000

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
