POSITION DESCRIPTION Position: Kitchen SupervisorReports To: Food & Beverage ManagerLast Updated: October 2026Qualifications: 2-3 years relevant experience, Food Safe Certification, Smart Serve, WHMIS.Location: OakvilleTerm: October 2026 to April 2027 (possibility of extension)Pay Rate: $21.50/hr Hours: 30-35 hours per week This posting is for an upcoming vacancy   GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Food & Beverage Manager in many of the daily duties of our operations and provides professional leadership and direction to all related personnel. Kitchen Supervisors primarily focus is running the day-to-day operations of the café and the kitchen, however they will also lend support to the Food & Beverage Manager, and the rest of the leadership team where necessary.   ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE The Kitchen Supervisor directly reports to the Food & Beverage Manager. The Supervisor will oversee all part-time staff in their department.   SCOPE AND NATURE  Sheridan Student Union Inc. represents all fee-paying students at Sheridan College. We are a student led community enhancing the experience of our fellow students. This is achieved through participation as an active member of the Sheridan community, facilitating opportunities for student leadership, and the creation of strategic partnerships to improve the quality of life on campus. For more information, visit www.thessu.ca   Sheridan’s SSU is a recognized college committee comprised of SSU student Directors, SSU employees and the Dean of Student Services. The Corporation approves funding allocations for the Student Activity Fee and is responsible for developing organizational policies and procedures.   It is the goal of the Sheridan Student Union employees to make the center a pleasant, professional stress-free location for the student to come and get information. The Kitchen Supervisor will work with the Food & Beverage Manager, the operational leadership team, and all part-time staff to ensure a high level of satisfaction among all customers, employees, and all other guests.     SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES The Kitchen Supervisor covers a wide variety of responsibilities in the daily operations of the SSU facilities and may be modified from time to time by management. It is important to note that not all functions and duties are contained within this definition, and the position itself should be ever changing and adaptive.  Nevertheless, specific roles and responsibilities allocated to this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Supervise day-to-day operation of the café and the kitchen in the Student Center Act as a liaison between team members and management Aid in the onboarding, supervision, and training of the part-time staff within the café and the kitchen. Ensures that the Food & Beverage Manager is aware of the activities occurring within the kitchen Scheduling of all part-time staff in the café and for catering in conjunction with the Food & Beverage Manager Coordinate all food and catering prep needs for the cafe while maintaining proper quality, food safety, and storage Advise management with any employee members’ performance and/or disciplinary issues. Coordinate daily ordering, inventory, and par levels with Food & Beverage Manager Aid in ensuring all weekly orders are received and effectively stored and practice proper product rotation Ensure established standards of cleanliness and sanitation are met, as well as execute daily and weekly cleaning projects Participate in staff and management meetings Ensuring/maintaining recipe and product specifications are followed resulting in product consistency Plan and execute daily features, specials, and menu rotations while adhering to budgeted food costs, wastes allowances, and our food service standards Establish and maintain a healthy working relationship with the Hospitality Operations Team and all part-time staff Supervise sales contests, staff incentives, and collect staff feedback for new initiatives Ensure opening, mid day and/or closing duties are completed efficiently and thoroughly Aid in daily and weekly equipment cleaning and maintenance and advise management of any issues Maintain strong working relationships with all third-party vendors, ensuring proper use of SSU equipment and that all renters uphold a clean, safe, and compliant working environment in accordance with SSU standards.

Punctual, organized, and a great focus on a positive guest experience Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, web-ordering, etc.) Able to take initiative and work unsupervised Team oriented Able to multi-task, problem solve, and make effective decisions where necessary Great listening skills and communication skills, along with a friendly disposition Demonstrates personal integrity & honesty Responsible and professional Ability to work some extended hours and weekends when necessary (early/late shifts as required, etc.)
