What You'll DoReporting to the Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer - CNC Programmer is responsible for developing and documenting CNC and manual machining processes. Duties include hands on development, troubleshooting, CNC programming, process definition, standard work, tool design & improvement, and process control documentation
Act as the technical liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing Responsible for programming (machining/forming/robot) depending on focus/assignment Assist with design and approval of tool designs for critical processing Capture the process information (ex. tooling/fixturing concepts, rollers, inserts, tool holders, speeds, feeds, etc.) necessary for detailed process definition and control Provide estimating support and input through running process simulations, developing layouts, and tool concepts for costing/quoting Analyze and improve existing machining operations to reduce cycle time, improve tool life, and enhance part quality Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for machining-related issues Collaborate with Quality, Materials, and Manufacturing teams to implement new materials, equipment, and technologies Support the introduction of new products and equipment, including CNC programming and process validation Perform observation/time studies for developing standards and improving processes for feedback to the Project Engineer Review QA supplied control plans and inspection logs as required Create visual instructions with process definition and control for safe manufacturing processes such as Process Control documents (PCs), Work Instructions (WI), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Analyze technology and resource needs to plan and assess the feasibility of processes and associated equipment Assist maintenance with troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of machines when necessary Assist with schedules and project status updates using MS Project for new orders Assist in evaluating and/or dispositioning nonconformance reports and provide/implement correction action Assist with developing PFMEAs where and/or when necessary to mitigate process risk Organize and evaluate process and cost data (ex. planned vs. actual) to support decision-making activities Manage drawings, data sets, models, part lists, and specifications in accordance with internal controls Evaluate, research, and provide feedback on new technologies Participating in internal or external presentations related to Engineering topics Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all safety and quality procedures Occasionally visit clients, vendors, and suppliers Attending meetings and trainings as assigned Complete projects as assigned
Team Responsibilities
Have a daily presence on the manufacturing floor to work collaboratively with shop team Support other divisional business units as directed by manager
