  • Communicate and promote Stelumar’s health & safety program across manufacturing facilities and offices, and lead safety initiatives by sharing best practices and lessons learned.
  • Monitor factory conditions and worker safety performance, conduct regular audits and inspections, and educate employees, contractors, and partners on safety precautions and standards.
  • Investigate all serious incidents, injuries, and near misses; identify root cause, recommend corrective actions, and report findings to Management and appropriate government authorities in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that health & safety committees are in place, meeting regularly, and documenting their activities in accordance with OHS requirements.
  • Proactively identify safety-related risks.
  • Develop, implement, and audit machine guarding and lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs across automated and robotic production lines.
  • Liaise with external parties, including government inspectors, sub-contractors, and the public, and represent Stelumar at stakeholder meetings on workplace health and safety matters.
  • Partner with Facilities to coordinate safety requirements for contractors and vendors and to align on building systems (e.g., fire/life safety, HVAC, electrical) affecting worker and site safety.
  • When required, assist management with sourcing, training, onboarding, and hiring Health and Safety Representatives.
  • Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all controlled products.
  • Manage WSIB claims and the modified duties and return-to-work programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in occupational health & safety.
  • 5-7 years of progressive health and safety experience, including at least 2 years leading a safety program or team
  • Experience leading health and safety in advanced manufacturing facilities featuring a high degree of automation and robotics, including working knowledge of machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and industrial robot safety standards.
  • Expert knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and working knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and return-to-work processes.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience coaching and mentoring teams.
  • Experience investigating, documenting, and reporting workplace incidents and accidents.
  • Experience building a health & safety program from the ground up.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Adaptable and self-motivated, able to build consensus and work effectively both independently and with diverse teams across changing environments.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between Stelumar's GTA facilities and active construction sites, and to spend significant time on an operating factory floor in required PPE.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
