What we offer

As a Senior Estimator with GTA Multi-Storey, you will help shape complex mid-rise and high-rise communities from early planning through construction. In this role, you will lead construction cost planning, budget management, and cost-control support while partnering closely with construction, development, design, procurement, and finance teams. Your insights will help the team make informed decisions that balance quality, cost efficiency, and long-term project success.

This is an opportunity to bring your estimating expertise to high-profile urban projects while growing with one of the largest and most reputable companies in new home construction. If you are collaborative, analytical, solutions-focused, and motivated by work that has a visible impact, the sky is the limit.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development and management of construction budgets for multi-million dollar mid-rise and high-rise projects.
  • Review construction design documents and perform detailed quantity take-offs across multiple trade disciplines for construction budgeting.
  • Upload and maintain construction budgets in the JDE system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Lead cost-benefit analysis on Mattamy’s strategic and sustainability initiatives and provide recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Lead and support zero-based budgeting exercises to build, validate, and refine project budgets from the ground up.
  • Evaluate the cost implications of emerging construction methods, including modular approaches, where applicable.
  • Drive value engineering opportunities to achieve cost efficiency in collaboration with cross-functional project teams.
  • Monitor industry best practices, market trends, emerging processes, and technologies, and share relevant insights internally.
  • Support the development of standard project finishes, features, and upgrade programs, providing cost guidance and recommendations.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the internal cost database to support accurate budgeting and benchmarking.
  • Lead budget reviews during the construction stage, identifying risks, variances, and opportunities for cost management.
  • Review and assess trade extras related to post-tender design changes, providing recommendations on cost impact and validity.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior estimating team members as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of progressive experience as a construction estimator, ideally with mid-rise and/or high-rise residential projects.
  • Post-secondary degree(s) and/or certificate(s) in architecture, engineering, construction and/or project management.
  • Strong ability to perform quantity take-offs across all trade disciplines using computer software.
  • Strong numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex construction drawings and cost information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and provide recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Computer literacy, with strong knowledge of Excel, Word, estimating software, and construction management systems.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Positive attitude, responsive, action oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of deliverables.

Highly organized and detail oriented, with sound judgment and a strong commitment to accuracy.

Bonus points

  • Eligible for or have attained PQS, CET.
  • Experience with JDE and Procore systems.

Experience mentoring or providing guidance to junior estimators or project team members.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $110,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.

You are also eligible to participate in Mattamy’s annual bonus program which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
