The Opportunity

You will support the development and evolution of automation and digital solutions for power converter and grid-connected applications by working with product managers, sales, application engineering, customers, and cross-functional teams. The role involves gathering and structuring market requirements, supporting technology assessments, identifying gaps between current and future application needs, contributing to business cases and roadmap activities, and helping validate solutions against defined requirements. You will also support documentation, product improvements, technical change requests, and knowledge-sharing activities. By helping align product requirements with grid codes, operational technology cybersecurity requirements, data management regulations, and customer needs, you will contribute to reliable, compliant, and evolving solutions used in modern power systems, renewable energy applications, battery energy storage systems, and related grid automation environments.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Collect and structure market trends and customer requirements with product managers, sales, and application engineering.
  • Ensure product solutions comply with grid codes, cybersecurity requirements, OT operational standards, and data management regulations.
  • Work with key customers to discuss new developments and requirements.
  • Support benchmarking activities for competitor solutions and emerging IT and OT technologies.
  • Help assess gaps between current automation and digital solutions and future application needs.
  • Develop business cases and studies to support closure of identified technology gaps and portfolio development.
  • Contribute to validation activities by reviewing test plans, performance data, and compliance against requirements.
  • Collaborate with R&D, sales and tendering, and operations while supporting training and knowledge sharing related to power converter applications.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in automation engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Two to five years of relevant experience with power converters, inverters, electrical grid automation, system integration, or solution development within the renewable energy or battery energy storage sectors.
  • Experience with power converters, inverters, electrical grid automation, system integration, or solution development within renewable energy or battery energy storage applications.
  • Knowledge of power systems, low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment, and power generation equipment.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial and electrical communication protocols, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, plant networking, control systems, plant automation, grid-code compliance, and OT cybersecurity.
  • Fluency in English.
