Job Description:

Role Mission

Hitachi Energy is seeking a strategic and technically capable Sales Manager - Battery & Integrators to lead national sales engagement with battery manufacturers and system integrators across North America.

This position will own revenue growth through battery manufacturers and integrators and serve as the primary commercial and technical sales interface between those accounts and Hitachi Energy's Power Conversion Solutions business. The role will establish the commercial, contractual, technical, and operating frameworks needed to sell PCS solutions into utility-scale energy storage projects serving independent power producers, developers, asset owners, utilities, data center customers, and EPC contractors.

The successful candidate will combine direct sales leadership, strategic account management, business development, and strong technical knowledge of utility-scale BESS. The position will convert established global commercial relationships and technical work into North American opportunities while also originating, developing, and maintaining relationships with manufacturers and integrators that are specific to the North American market.

Key Responsibilities

National Sales and Account Ownership

· Own the North American sales strategy and account plans for priority battery manufacturers and system integrators.

· Build relationships across executive, commercial, technical, procurement, project-development, and operational functions.

· Identify, qualify, develop, and close PCS opportunities generated through battery manufacturers and integrators.

· Maintain account-level pipeline visibility, opportunity strategy, forecasts, and sales action plans.

· Identify and develop relationships with manufacturers and integrators that operate primarily or exclusively in North America.

Commercial Frameworks and Business Process

· Develop framework agreements, memoranda of understanding, supply arrangements, approved vendor list status, preferred-supplier designations, and other scalable commercial structures.

· Support negotiation of commercial terms and contractual frameworks that simplify and accelerate PCS adoption.

· Define repeatable business processes for Hitachi Energy, as a component supplier, to sell PCS solutions through turnkey battery providers and system integrators.

· Coordinate with Legal, Tendering, Procurement, Product Management, Application Engineering, Operations, and regional Sales to move opportunities from qualification through order intake.

· Develop commercial strategies that improve Hitachi Energy's position within battery and integrator channels.

Technical Sales and Solution Development

· Lead technical sales engagement to position Hitachi Energy PCS within utility-scale BESS solutions.

· Drive qualification of Hitachi Energy PCS platforms across battery manufacturer and integrator solution portfolios.

· Coordinate compatibility assessments, interface alignment, controls and communications requirements, integration testing, and solution-development activities.

· Work with Application Engineering and Product Management to identify customer requirements, solution gaps, and opportunities for standardization.

· Demonstrate working knowledge of battery technologies, PCS and inverter technologies, system architectures, grid-code requirements, controls, communications, and utility-scale storage applications.

Customer Opportunity Development and Sales Enablement

· Create repeatable PCS pull-through opportunities through battery manufacturer and integrator channels.

· Work with regional sales managers on project opportunities while allowing them to retain primary ownership of the end-customer relationship.

· Influence solution-design and sourcing decisions to position Hitachi Energy as a preferred PCS provider.

· Develop standardized battery-plus-PCS offerings that can be replicated across customers and projects.

· Provide market intelligence, competitive insights, technical-commercial positioning, and account strategies to the North American sales organization.

Global Coordination

· Serve as the North American sales interface to Hitachi Energy's global battery business development, sales enablement, engineering, and product teams.

· Leverage existing global commercial relationships, technical qualifications, due-diligence work, supplier approvals, and framework agreements rather than duplicating activity regionally.

· Translate global capabilities into North American projects, configurations, commercial offers, and customer opportunities.

· Ensure North American regulatory needs, market requirements, customer feedback, and opportunity priorities are represented in global workstreams.

· Share opportunity status, account intelligence, lessons learned, and market trends with global stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, Business, or a related field.

· 7+ years of sales, account management, or business development experience in energy storage, utility-scale solar, power conversion systems, power electronics, renewable energy, or a related industry.

· Demonstrated experience selling to or through battery manufacturers, system integrators, EPCs, developers, utilities, asset owners, or energy storage customers.

· Strong understanding of utility-scale BESS, including battery technologies, PCS/inverter technologies, AC- and DC-coupled architectures, controls and interfaces, grid interconnection requirements, and the project lifecycle.

· Experience developing commercial agreements, contractual frameworks, account plans, opportunity strategies, and sales forecasts.

· Ability to communicate credibly with engineering, procurement, commercial, executive, and customer stakeholders.

· Ability to lead cross-functional sales activity without direct authority and operate effectively across regional and global teams.

Preferred

· Experience with supplier qualification programs and approved vendor list processes.

· Familiarity with PCS-to-battery integration, controls, communications, and interface requirements.

· Experience managing complex national or strategic accounts in renewable energy markets.

· Knowledge of utility, IPP, developer, EPC, asset-owner, and hyperscale data center customer segments.

· MBA, advanced technical degree, or equivalent commercial and technical experience.

Key Competencies

· Sales leadership and revenue growth

· Strategic account management

· Opportunity development and forecasting

· Technical solution selling

· Utility-scale BESS expertise

· Commercial and contractual negotiation

· Executive relationship management

· Cross-functional leadership

· Channel development

· Global collaboration

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
