The posting

Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation. Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.

About the role

The Regional Sales Head is the senior commercial leader for the assigned country or region and is responsible for delivering sustainable, profitable growth for MTCS. The role leads a team of 3–5 sales professionals and owns territory strategy, order intake, pipeline development, forecasting, business development, strategic account management and commercial execution.

The territory typically represents approximately USD 20–30 million in annual base-business opportunity, with additional upside from major revamps, turnarounds, modernization programs and capital projects. The role coordinates customer-facing resources through a matrix model while Operations personnel continue to report to the Head of Operations and Service personnel continue to report to Service Operations.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute the commercial and business development strategy for the assigned country or region, aligned with the MTCS Americas strategy.
  • Deliver annual order intake, revenue growth, gross margin, market-share and customer-development objectives.
  • Lead, coach and develop 3–5 sales professionals, establishing clear accountability, succession plans and a high-performance culture.
  • Own territory forecasting, pipeline health, opportunity qualification, CRM discipline and sales management cadence.
  • Develop strategic account plans and executive relationships with refiners, petrochemical and chemical producers, gas processors, LNG operators, mining customers, EPCs, licensors and engineering companies.
  • Identify and develop base-business and strategic opportunities involving tower revamps, turnarounds, debottlenecking, reliability improvements, energy efficiency, emissions reduction and new capital projects.
  • Lead pursuit strategy, commercial positioning, pricing alignment, negotiations and escalation for key opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Business Development & Sales Operations AME function on market intelligence, segmentation, account prioritization, pipeline analytics, growth initiatives, forecasting and commercial excellence.
  • Coordinate dotted-line customer-facing resources, including Service Project Managers, Service Superintendents, Product Project Managers, APT and other local resources, around customer priorities and pursuit plans.
  • Partner with the Head of Operations and Service Operations leadership to align capacity, execution readiness, customer commitments and resource deployment without assuming direct operational reporting responsibility.
  • Promote One MTCS and One Sulzer collaboration, including cross-selling and coordinated customer engagement with other Sulzer businesses where appropriate.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market investments, turnaround schedules and customer capital plans to influence opportunities early in the lifecycle.

Organizational Relationships

  • Direct leadership: Sales Engineers, Account Managers, Territory Sales Managers, Sales Specialists and other assigned commercial personnel.
  • Matrix leadership: Service Project Managers, Service Superintendents, Product Project Managers, APT, technical specialists and other local customer-facing resources, as applicable.
  • Key interfaces: Sales Leader AME, Business Development & Sales Operations AME, Head of Operations, Service Operations, APT, Engineering, Project Management, Finance, Procurement and Marketing.
  • Governance: Operations resources remain in the Operations reporting line; Service resources remain in the Service Operations reporting line. The Regional Sales Head provides commercial direction, account priorities and opportunity alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or a related discipline required; Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and/or an MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of industrial B2B sales, business development or strategic account experience, including at least 5 years leading commercial teams.
  • Experience managing complex engineered-equipment, industrial-service, aftermarket or capital-project sales cycles.
  • Demonstrated success in forecasting, pipeline management, strategic account development, commercial negotiations and team leadership.
  • Industry experience in refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, gas processing, LNG, mining or other process industries strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, licensors, engineering firms, turnarounds, revamps and major capital projects preferred.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Fluent English and the relevant local language required; additional Americas languages are an advantage.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30–50% within the assigned territory and across the Americas as needed.

  • 30-day Christmas bonus

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
