Position Details

  • Pay Rate: $22.00/hour
  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday
  • Hours: 5:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • Requirement: Previous welding experience required

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Weld Operator to join our manufacturing team. The Weld Operator is responsible for setting up and operating welding equipment, preparing metal components, performing quality welds, and inspecting finished parts to ensure they meet production and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has experience with MIG welding, blueprint reading, measuring tools, welding equipment, and metal fabrication and is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and welding specifications.
  • Measure and lay out materials according to production requirements.
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment and methods for each application.
  • Set up and position components for welding according to specifications.
  • Cut and prepare materials using powered saws and other equipment.
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
  • Align and secure components using clamps, calipers, rulers, and other measuring tools.
  • Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, or resistance welding equipment as required.
  • Perform welds in various positions, including vertical, horizontal, and overhead.
  • Repair machinery, metal components, and structures by welding pieces and filling gaps.
  • Inspect welded surfaces and finished components for defects and quality issues.
  • Monitor welding equipment and report equipment or production issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure it remains in safe operating condition.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper PPE and lockout/tagout procedures when required.
  • Work efficiently to support production goals and maintain workflow.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous welding experience required.
  • 5+ years of welding experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of MIG welding experience preferred.
  • Experience operating MIG, TIG, resistance, or other welding equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, work orders, and welding specifications.
  • Basic understanding of welding processes, equipment, and safety practices.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine setup and operation.
  • Experience using calipers, weld gauges, tape measures, rulers, and other measuring tools.
  • Ability to visually inspect welds and identify defects.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while operating welding equipment.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move metal components and materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or mechanical aids when appropriate.
  • Perform repetitive hand, arm, and upper-body movements during welding, grinding, and inspection.
  • Ability to safely operate welding guns, torches, grinders, clamps, controls, and measuring tools.
  • Sufficient vision to read blueprints, weld symbols, gauges, and inspect weld quality.
  • Ability to hear machine sounds, alarms, and verbal instructions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable working around heat, sparks, fumes, noise, metal materials, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, protective clothing, safety glasses, and steel-toe footwear.
