The posting

Group Financial Controller

Are you a structured and proactive finance professional with experience in financial controlling and an interest in sustainability compliance? Do you enjoy combining recurring reporting activities with continuous improvement in an international organisation? Then you may be the colleague we are looking for.

As Group Financial Controller, you will join our Group Finance team at Svitzer Headquarters in Copenhagen. Working closely with colleagues across our regions and Global Business Services team in Poland, you will help ensure high-quality financial reporting and support finance processes across our global organisation.

Based in Nordhavn, Copenhagen, we offer a collaborative environment where professionalism, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement go hand in hand. We value initiative, encourage new ideas, and believe flexibility and trust are essential to delivering great results.

About us

Svitzer is a leading global towage operator with around 4,500 colleagues and a fleet of more than 500 tugboats operating across 35+ countries. We provide sustainable marine services that make ports and terminals safer, more efficient and more climate friendly. - If you would like to see what our tugboats do and the impact they have every day, here is a short video: Svitzer Introduces TRAnsverse Tug (1 min., 55 sec.)

With deep operational expertise and a strong performance culture, we are focused on simplifying complexity, strengthening collaboration and building an organisation that can continue to grow and adapt. Our international footprint and relatively flat structure create opportunities to work closely with colleagues across functions, countries and cultures while making a real impact on the business.

We offer

Based at our headquarters in Copenhagen and reporting to Kajali Arora, Group Controlling & Consolidation Manager, you will join a collaborative and international Group Finance team working closely with colleagues across our global organisation.

We offer direct exposure to senior stakeholders, opportunities to take ownership, and the chance to contribute to decisions that matter. We value trust, teamwork and open dialogue, and support flexible ways of working that help balance professional and personal priorities.

Most importantly, you will join a supportive team that enjoys working together and is committed to delivering value for the business and our colleagues.

The role

As Group Financial Controller, you will work closely with colleagues across Group Finance, Headquarter function and our regions worldwide. This role offers broad exposure across the organisation and the autonomy to structure your work while contributing to high-quality financial reporting, compliance and decision-making at a global level.

Key responsibilities are:

Controlling and reporting

Participating in the monthly financial controlling of Svitzer Group's performance, which happens in close collaboration with colleagues in Group Finance, Global Business Services and the regions. Thus, you will also prepare consolidated financial analysis and provide ad-hoc insights into other financial presentations for Senior Management. Eventually, you will become one of the experts in the consolidation system (OneStream). You could also become responsible for training/workshops relevant to the Svitzer Finance community. This could also include controlling and ad hoc projects, when relevant.

Governance

You will work closely with other controllers on ensuring a robust governance framework in Svitzer and among others updating the Finance and ESG accounting manual, reporting instructions and relevant functional SOPs and on a constant basis evaluating and updating the controlling framework. As a natural part of your job, you will be in contact with the external and internal auditors in connection with the interim and year-end audit.

Business Partnering

You will quickly become a natural focal point for the Finance community by providing proactive support and guidance on reporting, IFRS, CSRD and sustainability-related matters. In addition, you will provide proactive support and guidance to colleagues across the global organisation, acting as a trusted business partner.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with all or some of the following experience and qualifications:

  • You must reside in Denmark and hold a valid Danish residence and work permit (requirement).
  • You hold a relevant Master’s degree in Accounting, Auditing or Finance along with minimum 3 years of professional experience from a similar position.
  • You have experience with consolidated financial reporting and controlling, a basic knowledge of IFRS accounting standards, and an interest in sustainability reporting and compliance.
  • You have a reasonable flair for working with finance-related IT tools and applications, such as Microsoft Office and reporting platforms.
  • Previous experience with OneStream is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • You are a strong communicator and team player with high personal integrity.
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English, which is a must as this is our corporate language.

If this sounds like a fit, we would love to hear from you. Please upload your CV and a short motivational letter describing what you would bring to the role and what particularly interests you about joining this role and Svitzer.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
