Summer 2027 Digital Testing & Optimization Internship

Southwest Airlines' Digital Testing & Optimization Internship provides the opportunity to support strategic initiatives and collaborate across Teams and Departments. Interns will play a direct role in delivering key business initiatives for Southwest Airlines and will partner with multiple teams throughout the organization. They'll also support projects from start to finish and assist the Projects Team on other Departmental initiatives. This internship ends with a capstone presentation with Department Leaders and other key Stakeholders.

Additional Details

  • Join Southwest as a Summer 2027 Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from May 18 – August 8, 2027.
  • Pay of $21-$24 per hour, corresponding with progress toward degree.
  • Stipends may be offered based on eligibility and program criteria.

Due to the nature of this role, you would be required to work from our Dallas, TX headquarters facility during business hours (2702 Love Field Drive).
  • Dedicate 40 hours each week (maximum of 8 hours per day) to your internship responsibilities and tasks.
  • Receive free, unlimited space available travel privileges for yourself (taxes and fees may apply on international travel).
  • Interns will be provided any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship
  • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Digital Testing & Optimization Intern may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support to the Projects Team and Departmental initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Assist with project coordination, tracking deliverables, documenting updates, and helping ensure timely follow-through on assigned work.
  • Partner with cross-functional Teams and Departments to gather information, support business needs, and contribute to key initiatives.
  • Prepare materials, updates, summaries, and presentations for Team Members, Department Leaders, and key Stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings, capture notes, track action items, and support follow-up activities.
  • Support a capstone presentation at the end of the internship by summarizing project work, findings, and recommendations.
  • Support the Testing workstream through A/B and multivariate testing activities.
  • Assist in building and QA'ing A/B and multivariate test variations, including copy, layout, and images, before launch.
  • Pull and organize test results from testing platforms and Adobe Analytics into standardized readouts.
  • Draft first-pass hypotheses for potential tests based on funnel drop-off points or known pain points.
  • Support post-test analysis by analyzing results and sharing the “why” and not just the “what” of Customer behavior.
  • Monitor live tests for basic health checks, including traffic split and tracking firing correctly, and flag anomalies.
  • Research industry testing trends and tools and summarize findings for the Team, which could serve as the main project for the summer.
  • Shadow and eventually own test result presentations to Stakeholders and help build the supporting slides and charts.
  • Support the Optimization workstream through analytics and reporting activities.
  • Help build and maintain dashboards in Adobe Analytics Workspace.
  • Pull performance data, including traffic, conversion, and engagement, for new digital activations.
  • Assist with tagging and tracking documentation by helping draft or update business requirements for new page or feature tracking.
  • Support root-cause dig-in analysis on specific metric anomalies.
  • Build slides and charts that translate raw data into a simple story-telling format.
  • May perform other job duties as directed by leaders.

  • Must be able to handle multiple situations simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment regarding confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information.
  • Must be technically proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Word and PowerPoint.

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required
  • Progress toward a degree, major, or minor in Business, Business Analytics, Marketing, Strategic Planning, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Management Information Systems, Communications, Economics, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Technology, Strategy Development, Data Analytics, Aviation Management, Hospitality or similar degree required
  • Progress towards a 4-year undergraduate degree preferred
  • To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at the time of application and during the internship
  • At least 3 semesters remaining at the time the internship ends is preferred
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process

Experience

  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Preferred: Knowledge and/or experience using 5S or Lean Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated interest and involvement in aviation.
  • Preferred: Previous school and/or community leadership role.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in problem-solving and working on a team.
