Symbios Health, a leading provider of personalized healthcare on Hilton Head Island, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our Physical Rehabilitation team. As a PTA, you will work under the direction of our expert Physical Therapists to deliver high-quality, one-on-one care in our state-of-the-art facility, contributing to our mission of treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans developed by Physical Therapists, focusing on manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and functional movement.
- Provide direct patient care, including guiding patients through prescribed exercises, applying modalities (e.g., heat, cold, ultrasound), and assisting with mobility training.
- Monitor patient progress, document observations, and report outcomes to the supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises and techniques to support recovery and prevent re-injury.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized and ready for use.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Physical Therapists, primary care providers, and fitness staff, to support Symbios Health’s holistic approach to wellness.
- Participate in patient screenings and assessments as directed, contributing to the development of tailored rehabilitation strategies.
- Uphold Symbios Health’s commitment to patient-centered care by fostering a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Current South Carolina PTA license (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
- Experience in outpatient orthopedics or manual therapy is a plus, though new graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for improving patients’ quality of life.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple patients effectively.
- Physical ability to assist patients with mobility, lift equipment, and demonstrate exercises (must be able to lift up to 50 lbs).
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is an advantage.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in lymphedema therapy or interest in pursuing additional training (e.g., through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies) is a bonus, aligning with Symbios Health’s comprehensive offerings.
- Enthusiasm for working with diverse patient populations, from athletes to seniors, in a hands-on setting.

Work Schedule:
- Approximately 40 treatment sessions per week, with a Monday–Friday schedule
