This position focuses primarily on the procurement of professional services, engineering services, consulting services, contracted labor, technical services, and outsourced service providers.

The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience independently negotiating, developing, executing, and administering complex commercial and legal procurement agreements, including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Contract Services Agreements (CSAs), Service Orders, Statements of Work (SOWs), consulting agreements, subcontractor agreement, and NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreement).

Working closely with Legal, Finance, Tax, Engineering, Project Controls, and other internal stakeholders, the Senior Indirect Buyer ensures contractual compliance, commercial risk mitigation, cost optimization, and successful project execution.

The role requires strong commercial judgment, experience managing complex supplier relationships, and the ability to independently support procurement activities in a fast-paced, global EPC environment.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Management & Commercial Negotiations

  • Independently prepare, review, negotiate, execute, and administer complex procurement agreements, including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Contract Services Agreements (CSAs), Service Orders, Statements of Work (SOWs), NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreement), consulting agreements, subcontractor agreements, and other commercial and legal procurement documentation.
  • Lead commercial and contractual negotiations with professional service providers, engineering consultants, technical contractors, and outsourced service suppliers.
  • Review and negotiate contractual terms and conditions, including indemnification, limitation of liability, insurance requirements, confidentiality, payment terms, termination provisions, intellectual property, and other commercial risk considerations.
  • Partner closely with Legal, Risk, Finance, Tax, and internal stakeholders to resolve contractual exceptions, negotiate deviations, and ensure agreements comply with company policies and project requirements.
  • Manage the complete contract lifecycle, including contract development, negotiation, approvals, execution, amendments, renewals, change orders, and closeout.
  • Develop and administer Service Orders and SOWs that clearly define scope, deliverables, commercial terms, schedules, performance expectations, and contractual obligations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate commercial, financial, and contractual risks associated with supplier agreements.

Strategic Sourcing & Indirect Procurement

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities for indirect service categories, including professional services, engineering services, consulting, contracted labor, technical resources, legal services, and outsourced services.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with project requirements, business objectives, procurement policies, and category management initiatives.
  • Prepare, issue, evaluate, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), and Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
  • Conduct supplier evaluations, commercial bid analyses, contract negotiations, and supplier selection recommendations.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing, labor rates, commercial structures, payment schedules, and contractual terms to achieve cost savings and minimize project risk.
  • Establish preferred supplier agreements and develop strategic relationships with qualified service providers and contractors.
  • Manage procurement activities from initial stakeholder requirements through contract award, purchase order execution, supplier performance management, and closeout.
  • Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, contract optimization, cost avoidance, and procurement process improvements.

EPC Project & Stakeholder Support

  • Support major engineering, energy, and EPC projects through the procurement of specialized professional services, engineering consultants, contracted labor, and technical service providers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Project Controls, Construction, Finance, Legal, Tax, and Accounts Payable to ensure procurement activities align with project budgets, schedules, and contractual requirements.
  • Support procurement requirements for LNG, petrochemical, energy transition, process technology, and other large-scale industrial projects.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to define service scopes, establish commercial requirements, evaluate supplier proposals, and finalize contractual documentation.
  • Support project-specific consulting agreements, engineering service contracts, intercompany procurement transactions, and specialized technical service requirements.
  • Resolve supplier disputes, contractual discrepancies, scope changes, and commercial issues while protecting company interests.
  • Maintain accurate procurement and contract records to support audit readiness, reporting, and compliance.

Supplier Management & Procurement Governance

  • Manage supplier qualification, onboarding, performance monitoring, and contract compliance for indirect service providers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance against contractual obligations, deliverables, schedules, and service-level expectations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, contractors, engineering consultants, and professional service organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures, delegated authority requirements, ethical sourcing standards, and applicable contractual obligations.
  • Utilize SAP, ERP, e-procurement, and contract management systems to maintain accurate supplier records, purchase orders, contract documentation, and procurement reporting.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers and procurement personnel on commercial negotiations, contract administration, and procurement best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen contract governance, sourcing efficiency, and supplier performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Procurement, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, or contract management experience, with significant responsibility for indirect services procurement.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience independently negotiating and administering MSAs, CSAs, Service Orders, SOWs, consulting agreements, subcontractor agreements, NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreement), and related legal procurement documents.
  • Strong experience procuring professional services, engineering services, consulting services, contracted labor, technical services, or outsourced services.
  • Proven ability to review, negotiate, and resolve complex commercial and contractual terms in collaboration with Legal and other internal stakeholders.
  • Experience managing the complete sourcing and contract lifecycle, including supplier selection, RFP/RFQ processes, negotiations, contract award, amendments, and supplier performance.
  • Strong understanding of commercial risk, supplier liability, insurance requirements, indemnification, confidentiality, and contract compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing complex supplier negotiations and high-value service agreements.
  • Proficiency with SAP, ERP, e-procurement, or contract lifecycle management systems.
  • Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, and competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
