The posting

About the Role:

The Journeyman Electrician, also commonly searched as Industrial Electrician, Industrial Maintenance Electrician, Electrical Maintenance Technician, and Field Service Electrician, is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical systems, manufacturing equipment, and automated machinery. This hands-on role supports heat treating furnaces, vacuum washers, conveyor systems, blasting equipment, robotics, and other industrial production equipment. The position combines in-house electrical maintenance with field service responsibilities, requiring approximately 40% travel, typically a few days per week during travel assignments, with trips occurring up to twice per month. The ideal candidate is a skilled Journeyman Electrician with strong industrial electrical troubleshooting, equipment installation, and preventive maintenance experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems, production machinery, electrical components, and automated manufacturing equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical failures involving industrial furnaces, vacuum washers, conveyor systems, blasting equipment, robotics, motors, control panels, sensors, and other industrial machinery.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits, motor controls, wiring, relays, contactors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and industrial control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical blueprints, ladder diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment documentation to perform installations, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance, including electrical inspections, testing, component replacements, equipment adjustments, and system upgrades.
  • Install, wire, connect, and commission industrial equipment, electrical panels, motors, control systems, and associated electrical components.
  • Utilize electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic instruments, to identify electrical faults and verify proper equipment operation.
  • Travel to customer locations approximately 40% of the time, with assignments typically lasting a few days and occurring up to twice per month, to support electrical installations, equipment troubleshooting, commissioning, repairs, and field maintenance.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, engineering, and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment failures, identify root causes, minimize downtime, and improve equipment reliability.
  • Ensure all electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable electrical regulations, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and workplace safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Current Journeyman Electrician license or recognized journeyman-level electrical certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on industrial electrical maintenance, electrical installation, troubleshooting, or industrial electrician experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, electrical distribution, motor controls, electrical panels, wiring, circuits, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues involving industrial machinery, motors, sensors, control circuits, relays, contactors, and automated production equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic and testing equipment to troubleshoot voltage, current, continuity, electrical faults, and equipment performance issues.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe electrical work practices.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time, typically for a few days per assignment, with travel occurring up to twice per month to support customer equipment installations, repairs, and field service work.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet job-related travel requirements.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of industrial electrical work, including standing, climbing, bending, reaching, working around industrial machinery, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance when appropriate.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience troubleshooting, installing, or maintaining industrial heat treating furnaces, temperature control systems, vacuum equipment, conveyor systems, blasting equipment, robotics, or similar manufacturing machinery.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ladder logic, variable frequency drives (VFDs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with three-phase electrical systems, motor starters, transformers, power distribution, industrial control panels, and electrical equipment commissioning.
  • Experience performing field service electrical work, industrial equipment installations, startup support, troubleshooting, and repairs at customer facilities.
  • Familiarity with temperature control instrumentation, thermocouples, process controls, calibration, electrical sensors, and industrial heating applications.
  • Additional mechanical maintenance skills, including basic welding, metal fabrication, pipe fitting, and electromechanical equipment repair.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
