The posting

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer (Manufacturing Quality Engineer) to support quality assurance, quality control, process improvement, and regulatory compliance within an aluminum casting and machining manufacturing environment in North Texas. This position plays a critical role in ensuring products meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and industry quality standards across aerospace, defense, automotive, commercial, and industrial markets. The ideal candidate brings experience with AS9100, IATF 16949, Nadcap, root cause analysis, first article inspection (FAI), and manufacturing quality systems. This role collaborates closely with Engineering, Production, and Operations to improve manufacturing processes, reduce defects, maintain product traceability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure manufactured products meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements through effective quality assurance, inspection, and process control activities.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Operations teams to develop, implement, and maintain robust manufacturing processes, quality control plans, inspection procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and customer quality requirements to establish appropriate inspection and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform and coordinate visual inspections, dimensional verification, in-process quality assessments, and final product inspections to verify conformity before shipment.
  • Review manufacturing routers, inspection records, production documentation, and traceability records to confirm all required manufacturing and quality processes have been completed accurately.
  • Prepare and maintain Certificates of Conformance (COC), material certifications, inspection reports, First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), and customer-required quality documentation packages.
  • Develop and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation and AS9102 First Article Inspection packages using Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles and applicable customer requirements.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA/RCAA) investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, 8D, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.
  • Support quality management system (QMS) compliance with AS9100, IATF 16949, Nadcap, ANSI, ASTM, and other applicable aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing quality standards.
  • Analyze quality metrics, inspection results, nonconformance reports, scrap and rework trends, and process capability data to identify improvement opportunities and implement sustainable corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of quality engineering, manufacturing quality assurance, quality control, or related experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems, inspection procedures, manufacturing process controls, product conformity, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing blueprints, technical specifications, dimensional tolerances, and inspection documentation.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis, investigating product nonconformances, implementing corrective actions, and supporting manufacturing process improvements.
  • Understanding of statistical quality control principles, including statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis, probability, statistical inference, and quantitative data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to collect and interpret technical data, evaluate manufacturing defects, identify underlying causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in preparing technical documentation, quality reports, inspection records, customer certification packages, and manufacturing compliance documentation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments, communicate technical findings, and interact professionally with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, elevated temperatures, molten metal, airborne particles, and manufacturing noise while following established safety procedures. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in aluminum casting, sand casting, permanent mold casting, foundry operations, metalcasting, precision machining, or other metal manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with aerospace, defense, and automotive quality management standards, including AS9100, IATF 16949 (formerly ISO/TS 16949), Nadcap special process requirements, ANSI, and ASTM specifications.
  • Experience developing and implementing Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), Design of Experiments (DOE), measurement systems analysis (MSA), gauge repeatability and reproducibility (Gauge R&R), and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience supporting internal quality audits, customer audits, supplier quality investigations, nonconformance management, and corrective and preventive action programs. Familiarity with ERP systems, quality management software, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies is beneficial.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or related quality certification. Basic conversational Spanish skills are also beneficial.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
