Contract period: May–August 2027

Classification: 1099 independent contractor

Taranis is seeking qualified drone pilots to collect agricultural imagery through the Taranis Direct program. Pilots will contract directly with Taranis and coordinate with Flight Operations to complete missions using company-provided equipment.

Our philosophy is “Fly where you live and live where you fly.” Assignments will be centered near each pilot’s home whenever practical.

Equipment and Compensation

Taranis provides the aircraft and required flight equipment. Contractors provide their own vehicles. Payment is based on completed flown acres. Compensation rates, minimum-acreage terms, and arrangements for travel outside the assigned operating area will be discussed during recruitment and documented in the contractor agreement.

How to Apply

Responsibilities

  • Complete agricultural imaging missions using DJI M30, M300, or M400 aircraft.
  • Maintain seasonal availability sufficient to support approximately 5–6 days of flying per week, depending on weather and mission demand.
  • Conduct safe flights in accordance with FAA requirements and Taranis operating procedures.
  • Perform equipment inspections and routine care, and promptly report equipment issues or incidents.
  • Upload collected imagery and confirm completed acreage through Taranis systems.
  • Communicate availability, mission progress, and field issues to Flight Operations.

Requirements

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and current required recurrent training..
  • Reliable vehicle suitable for transporting flight equipment and accessing agricultural field locations..
  • Availability throughout the May–August contract period..
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot routine field issues..
  • Ability to work outdoors in summer conditions..
  • Previous Taranis flight experience strongly preferred..
