The posting

About the role We are looking for a commercially curious Category Executive to join Tassal's Commercial team and help shape category growth across the Australian grocery channel. Working closely with the Category Manager, you will turn complex retailer, shopper and market data into meaningful insights that drive category decisions and support retail partnerships. This is an exciting opportunity to build a career in category management within a fast-paced FMCG environment. You'll work with real retail and consumer data, support category range reviews, build evidence-based stories, and present insights to internal stakeholders and retail customers. You'll gain exposure across Sales, Marketing and Category teams while developing the strategic and analytical skills that underpin successful category careers. What you'll do

Analyse retailer scan data, consumer panels, shopper behaviour and market trends to identify category opportunities and competitive threats Work with retailer data platforms (such as Quantium and Coles Synergy) to understand customer behaviour and support category recommendations Support promotional analysis and effectiveness – identifying what worked and optimising future activity Build clear, data-driven stories and supporting analysis for retailer negotiations, range reviews and category initiatives Prepare regular category and performance reporting with accuracy and attention to detail Present findings to internal teams and retail partners in a way that makes complex data accessible Respond collaboratively to ad-hoc business requests from Sales, Marketing and Leadership Support external research partners and help build category knowledge across the team

About you

2+ years in FMCG (Category, Sales, Marketing, Commercial or similar commercial function) Strong analytical capability – you're comfortable with data, can spot patterns, and translate numbers into decisions Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) is valued but not essential Experience with market data providers (Circana, NIQ, or equivalent) is a plus – but hands-on experience with any shopper or retail dataset counts Food, fresh produce or perishable categories helpful; equivalent FMCG experience in other categories welcome Excellent communication skills – you can explain analysis clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Detail-oriented; committed to accuracy in reporting and recommendations Curious, proactive, and genuinely interested in building a commercial career – you're keen to learn the category and the business

What we offer

Permanent full-time opportunity with one of Australia’s leading seafood and aquaculture businesses. Hands-on exposure to category management, retail customers and commercial decision-making. Ongoing learning, training and career development opportunities. Supportive, collaborative and high-performing team environment. Access to health and wellbeing initiatives for you and your family. Exclusive employee benefits through Maxxia Rewards. Generous discounts on Helly Hansen products and Tassal seafood. The opportunity to build a rewarding career within a growing Australian food business.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
