The Kassia Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and inspirational Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious teacher or leader who is passionate about improving teaching, learning and curriculum provision for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and strengthening the quality of teaching and learning across the academy. They will help to ensure that our curriculum is ambitious, coherent, inclusive and responsive to pupils’ individual needs and starting points.

The post-holder will also have strategic oversight of the Science curriculum and will be expected to teach Mathematics at Key Stage 4 as part of their teaching commitment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the development, implementation and evaluation of high-quality teaching and learning across the academy.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the Science curriculum, ensuring appropriate sequencing, progression and assessment.
  • Teach Mathematics effectively at Key Stage 4.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of curriculum delivery and pupil progress.
  • Lead and contribute to professional development, coaching and mentoring for teaching staff.
  • Promote consistent, evidence-informed and inclusive classroom practice.
  • Work closely with subject leaders, teachers and the SENCo to strengthen adaptive teaching.
  • Support the effective use of assessment to identify pupils’ starting points, barriers to learning and next steps.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities and the effective day-to-day leadership of the academy.
  • Promote positive behaviour for learning and uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified teacher with a relevant degree.
  • Has a successful track record of improving teaching and learning.
  • Has strong curriculum knowledge and the ability to provide effective oversight and leadership of science.
  • Has the knowledge, skills and willingness to teach Mathematics at Key Stage 4.
  • Understands assessment, pupil progress and the effective use of data.
  • Can inspire, coach and develop colleagues.
  • Has experience of working collaboratively with senior leaders.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Has high levels of emotional intelligence, empathy and self-awareness.
  • Is committed to inclusion and securing positive outcomes for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Is committed to their own continuing professional development.

The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and applicants must disclose relevant convictions and cautions in accordance with current legislation.
