Hayle Academy alongside Truro and Penwith Academy Trust are seeking an Assistant Headteacher (SEND). You will lead the strategic development and implementation of SEND provision across the school. You will play a pivotal role in shaping an inclusive learning environment where every student feels safe, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. This is a highly influential position that impacts all aspects of school life, including teaching and learning, safeguarding, attendance, behaviour and personal development.

Key responsibilities:

We are looking to appoint an exceptional leader to join our Senior Leadership Team and continue to drive our ambitious vision for inclusion, achievement and opportunity for all. The successful candidate will be a passionate and experienced professional who believes in the transformational power of education and is committed to removing barriers to learning. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape whole-school provision, influence strategic decision-making and maximise success for all children, particularly those with additional needs, so that every learner can thrive.

Joining Hayle Academy at this time is a particularly exciting opportunity. Our June 2026 Ofsted inspection recognised significant strengths in inclusion and personal development, affirming our commitment to ensuring that every child is known, valued and supported to flourish. This recognition reflects the culture and ethos that underpin everything we do and demonstrates the positive impact of our work in removing barriers and creating opportunities for all learners.

As Assistant Headteacher (SEND), you will have the opportunity to build on these recognised strengths, helping to shape the next phase of our journey. This role offers the chance to make a profound difference to the lives of young people and to influence a whole-school culture that is ambitious for every learner.

About You:

We are seeking an exceptional and values-driven leader who is passionate about improving life chances for young people and ensuring every child can thrive, regardless of the barriers they may face. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference in a highly inclusive school community.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher and leader with a proven track record of driving school improvement, leading teams effectively and securing positive outcomes for pupils. They will have the ability to inspire and influence colleagues, build strong relationships with students and families, and champion a culture of inclusion and high expectations for all.

We are looking for a leader who believes passionately in the transformational power of education and who is determined to remove barriers to learning so that all students can flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

You will be committed to delivering inclusive excellence and ensuring every student receives the support, challenge and opportunities they deserve. You will be a collaborative leader who develops others, builds effective teams and leads with integrity, optimism and determination.

Benefits of Working with Us:

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
