Join a Community Where Everyone Matters at Alton Park Junior School

Are you a caring individual who believes in the importance of safety and responsibility? Do you want to be part of a team dedicated to helping children feel safe, happy, and valued?

At Alton Park, we have a strong sense of community and high aspirations for our children. We are committed to preparing children for lifelong learning through an engaging and relevant curriculum, filled with first-hand experiences.

We are looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join our caring community and implement effective behaviour strategies across the school. By offering hands-on support during challenging moments and fostering an environment of engagement and respect, you will ensure our school remains a safe, happy space where every child is given the tools to make a positive contribution to society.

Whether you are an experienced behaviour specialist or have a background supporting children and want to take your next step in education, you will join a welcoming team dedicated to helping you succeed. Training will be provided, including a six module course to build expert classroom practice, including effective questioning, checking for understanding, and delivering actionable feedback. You will also have access to online training from TES and NASEN.

  • Start Date: ASAP (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks)
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Working Hours: 27.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (term time only)
  • Working Pattern: 8:45am - 3:15pm Monday to Friday

A Day in the Life:

You'll be responsible for bringing your passion and expertise to the following areas:

  • Implementing whole-school behaviour policies and procedures, providing direct support with managing challenging behaviour.
  • Providing targeted interventions for pupils with behavioural difficulties, offering both one-to-one and small group support.
  • Liaising with senior leaders, class teachers, and parents regarding pupil behaviour and progress.
  • Promoting restorative approaches to conflict resolution while fostering pupils' personal and social growth.
  • Supervising and supporting pupils who may be isolated from lessons, ensuring they safely complete the work provided by teaching staff.
  • Maintaining highly accurate records and reports on behaviour incidents and interventions.

What We're Looking For: You are the perfect fit for our team if you have:

  • Successful experience working with children in a school or similar setting.
  • The ability to demonstrate a range of effective behaviour strategies and confidently support the inclusion of pupils with emotional, behavioural or SEMH needs in a mainstream setting.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to build respectful, trusting relationships and interact positively with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • A strong working knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and inclusion policies.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
