The posting

We are looking for a positive, practical and dependable Caretaker to join our friendly site team at Anthony Gell School in Wirksworth.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same. Working with our Premises Manager and wider site team, you will help keep our school safe, clean, welcoming and ready for learning every day. From looking after buildings and grounds, responding to day-to-day site issues and moving equipment, to supporting security, events and lettings, you will play an important part in the smooth running of the whole school.

Anthony Gell School is an 11-18 school at the heart of the Wirksworth community, set in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Our school places considerable importance on pastoral care and creating a supportive and inspiring environment where young people are treated as individuals, encouraged to be aspirational and given opportunities to thrive. Student outcomes, including GCSE and A level results, are consistently strong, and our values and ethos are central to school life. There is real pride in AGS and in the environment we provide for our young people. That makes our site team particularly important. You don't have to work in the classroom to make a difference to a student's school day. The care taken over our buildings, grounds, cleanliness and safety all contributes to creating the environment in which our students and staff can do their best.

Anthony Gell School is part of Embark Federation, a family of Derbyshire schools which believes schools are "stronger together" and shares a vision of creating schools that stand out at the heart of their communities. Embark Federation's four core values of Family, Integrity, Teamwork and Success sit closely alongside the culture and values of AGS.

Why work with us?

Joining AGS also means becoming part of the wider Embark Federation family. Embark describes wellbeing, professional growth and collaboration as being at the heart of its staff culture, with opportunities for growth, collaboration and professional development. Its shared purpose for staff and young people is simple: "Love Learning, Love Life."

As part of our team, you can expect:

  • A friendly and supportive school community where every member of staff has an important contribution to make.
  • Training and development opportunities, alongside the wider professional growth and collaboration available through Embark Federation.
  • Employee wellbeing and support programmes, promoted within Embark Federation's approach to supporting staff.
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, where applicable, providing a valuable employment benefit alongside salary.
  • The opportunity to work within a Trust whose culture is based around Family, Integrity, Teamwork and Success, and where staff are valued as an important part of the organisation.
  • Most importantly, a job with a visible purpose. Your work will directly contribute to providing the safe, clean and welcoming environment our students and staff deserve.

We're looking for someone who takes pride in doing a job well, is reliable and flexible, enjoys practical work and is happy working both independently and as part of a team. You will need to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, visitors and contractors and be prepared to respond to the changing demands of a busy secondary school environment.

If you're practical, positive and looking for a role where you can see the difference your work makes every day, we'd love to hear from you. Come and be part of Team AGS.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
