The posting

Teacher - Designated Provision

This is a role for a teacher who can plan and deliver tailored, small-group and classroom teaching for pupils with special educational needs (ASD, SEMH and/or cognition and learning needs) within Dallam Primary School’s Designated Provision. You will lead a small team of teaching assistants, take day-to-day responsibility for teaching and learning in the DP, and work with families and external professionals to help each child make clear progress academically and socially. The post is part‑time (up to 3.0 WTE) and involves supporting transitions into and out of the provision.

What you'll be doing

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons and sequences of learning that enable pupils in the Designated Provision to make measurable progress.
  • Lead, deploy and supervise teaching assistants in the DP; develop systems for support staff to monitor and record pupil progress.
  • Create, review and implement Individual Learning/Behaviour/Care plans and contribute to EHCP-related documentation and Annual Reviews.
  • Use assessment effectively (including small‑step assessment) to inform planning and personalise provision.
  • Establish a purposeful, safe classroom environment and apply behaviour strategies that support learning and communication.
  • Work with the SENCo, headteacher and external agencies to prepare referrals, attend multi‑agency meetings and support transitions.
  • Facilitate inreach/outreach by liaising with mainstream colleagues so DP pupils can access wider school activities and, where appropriate, support the inclusion of mainstream pupils in the DP.
  • Communicate regularly and sensitively with parents and carers, keeping them informed about progress, targets and wellbeing.
  • Participate in CPD and specialist network activity provided by Warrington LEA and/or TCAT; keep professional knowledge up to date.

What we're looking for

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and an enhanced DBS check.
  • Experience of teaching (typically 2-4 years) and confident classroom practice, including working in EYFS/Foundation Stage and KS1 contexts.
  • Practical experience of working with pupils who have statements/EHCPs for SEN, especially ASD and related neurodivergent needs.
  • Ability to plan differentiated learning, write ILPs/pupil profiles, and use assessment to identify small-step progress.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and effective classroom organisation to support independence and resilience.
  • Good communication skills with children, families and professionals; willingness to work as part of a small team.

Desirable:

  • Experience of using assessment packages such as B-Squared, Read Write Inc, or Team Teach de-escalation strategies.
  • Evidence of further professional development specific to SEN practice.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
