Class Teachers Required

Billing Brook School recognises that a highly effective, inclusive and cohesive staff team results in great pupil outcomes. It also helps make the school a great place to work in. If you have a positive attitude and a desire to continually develop - look no further - this could be a great job for you.

Billing Brook School is a large, successful special school in Northampton, serving children and young people aged between 4 and 18. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan. The school caters for a range of complex needs in particular:

  • Significant to severe cognition and learning difficulties
  • Speech, Language and Communication difficulties

Typically, pupils have a combination of special educational needs, the majority are autistic. Whilst we recognise that our children and young people have special educational needs, we also work hard to recognise, celebrate and build upon their strengths.

This position is specifically within our secondary provision and will involve teaching pupils with complex and high levels of need who are working within Pathway 1. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a highly personalised curriculum that is centred on each pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes, ensuring that learning, communication, independence and wellbeing objectives are embedded throughout daily practice. A significant aspect of the role will be preparing pupils for adulthood through our Preparation for Life curriculum, supporting the development of essential life skills, independence, community engagement and readiness for their future beyond school. Experience of working with pupils with complex SEND and a commitment to a holistic, person-centred approach is essential.

Our purpose is to provide relevant knowledge, skills and experiences to help pupils become:

  • Confident individuals able to effectively communicate
  • Healthy, resilient individuals ready to leave fulfilling lives
  • Independent young people whose life is filled with meaningful and purposeful activity.

We are looking for passionate and resilient individuals who will work proactively and who are ambitious for our children and young people to be curious, kind and have a real sense of belonging within our school community.

In particular, we are looking for someone who:

  • Wants to teach a purposeful, meaningful curriculum to help prepare pupils for adulthood
  • Can adapt and adjust their teaching to motivate and engage pupils by being creative and inspiring
  • Has a desire to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding relating to SEND
  • Has a positive attitude, is resilient and able to keep calm

In return, we offer:

  • A friendly and inclusive working environment and the chance to be part of a fantastic team who work hard and support each other
  • Children and young people who are keen to learn
  • A school determined to support wellbeing and work-life balance
  • High quality continual professional development

Benefits: Sick Pay; Teacher Pension scheme available; free car parking; regular training and development, team and wellbeing sessions; Employee Assistance Programme (EAP); Cycle to Work Scheme

We do not expect teachers to come to school knowing “everything there is to know” about SEND, however previous experience would be an advantage. We recognise the importance of work-life balance and welcome part-time applications from teachers look to work a reduced working week (three or four full days).

What next? If you are interested in the position, please do not hesitate to contact Nikki Kennedy, Headteacher via email: [email protected] to find out more about this great opportunity.

The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS clearance, medical clearance and references that are satisfactory to the school.

Interviews: Friday 16 October 2026

Start date: 4 January 2027

Salary range: MPS plus SEN allowance

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
