Teaching Associate - King’s Academy Bay House

Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the learning and experience of young people? This is an excellent opportunity to join King’s Academy Bay House as a Teaching Associate and play an important role in supporting teaching and learning across our large and successful secondary school.

As a Teaching Associate, you will primarily supervise classes during short-term teacher absence. Lessons and work will already be prepared by the class teacher, allowing you to focus on creating a calm, positive and purposeful learning environment. You will support students to remain engaged with their work, provide clear instructions and help maintain our high expectations for behaviour.

When cover is not required, you will have the opportunity to support colleagues across the school with a variety of classroom, practical and administrative activities. You may also support examinations and undertake duties across the school, providing you with a varied and rewarding role.

We are looking for someone who is confident, approachable and able to build positive relationships with young people while maintaining clear professional boundaries and expectations. You will need to communicate effectively, give clear instructions and feel comfortable managing a classroom environment.

Previous experience of working in a school is not essential. Experience of working with young people is desirable, but we would also welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience who can demonstrate strong communication skills, enthusiasm and the confidence to work effectively with students.

You will need:

  • GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A calm, organised and professional approach.
  • The confidence to manage a classroom and maintain positive behaviour.
  • A commitment to supporting the education, development and wellbeing of young people.

This role could be particularly suited to someone considering a future career in education or teaching. It offers valuable experience of working with different classes, subjects and age groups, giving you an insight into the varied and rewarding nature of working in a school.

At King’s Academy Bay House, you will become part of a supportive staff community, with opportunities for professional development and training. You will play an important part in both classroom learning and the wider life and ethos of the school.

If you are calm, organised and approachable, and have the enthusiasm and confidence to make a positive difference to young people, we would love to hear from you.

King’s Academies is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. King’s Academies pursues a policy of equality of opportunity.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
