About us and the role
We are seeking an Exam Invigilator to join the team at Avanti Grange Secondary School, helping to ensure examinations are conducted smoothly, fairly and in accordance with the required regulations.
You will play an important role in creating a calm, well-organised and supportive environment where every candidate has the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
Working alongside the Examinations Manager and wider school team, you will help uphold the integrity and security of the examination process while ensuring students are treated consistently and with care.
This role would suit someone who is reliable, attentive and able to follow procedures carefully, while remaining calm and professional in an examination setting. Full training will be provided, so previous invigilation experience is not required, making this a good opportunity for someone looking to contribute to the school community and develop new skills.
If you are looking for an opportunity to make a positive contribution to our school community and support students during an important stage of their education, we would love to hear from you.
School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.
What will you do?
- Conduct examinations in line with JCQ, awarding body and Avanti Grange Secondary School regulations, policies and procedures, ensuring all candidates have a fair and equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
- Prepare examination rooms, admit and seat candidates, distribute the correct papers and materials, and provide clear instructions before and during each examination.
- Maintain a high level of vigilance throughout examinations, responding appropriately to questions, disruptions, emergencies or irregularities and reporting any concerns in accordance with procedures.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of examination materials before, during and after each examination, including the accurate collection, checking and secure return of scripts and paperwork.
- Attend required training and support other examination-related activities where appropriate, including access arrangements, timetable clashes and administrative checks.
What are we looking for?
- Reliable, flexible and readily available during main examination periods
- Effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow processes and procedures, give instructions and manage situations involving groups of people
- A confident and reassuring presence for candidates in the examination room
- Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
