  • Supervising children and always maintaining their safety;
  • Promoting positive behaviour in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy;
  • Assisting with accurate registers and ensuring that children are safely collected by authorised adults;
  • Preparing and serving meals and snacks while following food hygiene and allergy procedures;

  • Following all school safeguarding, health and safety and confidentiality policies.

You should:

  • Hold a relevant Level 3 childcare, playwork or early-years qualification;
  • Have experience of working with or caring for children;
  • Be able to build strong and appropriate relationships with children;
  • Have a good understanding of children’s development and the importance of play;
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team;
  • Be dependable, organised and able to use your initiative;
  • Have effective communication skills;

  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities;
  • Be able to support positive behaviour in line with the school’s guidelines;
  • Demonstrate good food hygiene practices and follow the school’s health and safety policies;
  • Be able to respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations.

A paediatric first-aid certificate and food hygiene training would be desirable, although appropriate training may be provided.

Applicants who have children attending the school may be eligible for a discounted place in our After School Club. We can discuss further information, including the applicable discount and rate, at the interview.

You will join a friendly and supportive staff team at Wantage CE Primary School and play an important role in providing high-quality care for our children at the end of the school day.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
