The posting

Job Title: Food Teacher

Location: Esteem South Academy

Grade/Scale: Teacher Pay Scale - MPS / UPS plus SEN 1 allowance or unqualified

Contract: 32.5 hours per week

Can you wow our pupils in the kitchen with flare and creativity?

Can you teach inspirational food lessons and demonstrate your passion for food?

If so, then you may be the person that we are looking for!

We are looking to recruit an experienced and inspiring Food Teacher to join our academy to teach our secondary age pupils. The staffing team is small compared to a mainstream school and classes will be small and may have up to 10 pupils in each. We plan to extend our provision offer further from January 2027 by offering a Food curriculum including GCSE. This is a new subject for our academy, however you will have access to the Food curriculum from Esteem North Academy. You will take responsibility for driving this new subject across the academy and of purchasing necessary resources and setting up of the brand new food classroom!

This post will suit someone who is experienced in the kitchen and can teach others. You will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the pupils and the academy. We review our offer depending on pupil numbers and their needs, and we make frequent changes to ensure that the site can meet the needs of the pupils that are on roll. We welcome applications from candidates who are able to teach engaging and adaptive Food lessons to challenging and disengaged SEND pupils.

Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other suitable setting. An affinity for pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding opportunity. Applicants should be resilient, have high expectations, and a sense of humour. You must be able to build positive relationships with our pupils and think outside of the box. You will be responsible for contributing to a small staffing team to ensure that the site runs smoothly. A growth mindset and positive ethos are essential characteristics that we are looking for.

Candidates must have access to a car and business insurance included.

Potential applicants should contact the Executive Headteacher or Head of School directly to discuss the academy and their experience prior to application. Suitable applicants will be invited into the academy for an informal meeting to explore the role further.

Please see the attached Application pack including a Welcome from the Executive Head Teacher and more information about Esteem South Academy and Esteem MAT. Please review the attached Job Description to learn more about the role and what we are looking for in the successful candidate.

Benefits Include:

- Teacher's Pension Scheme / LGPS Pension Scheme (16.6% employer contributions)

- Generous holiday entitlement

- Access to Westfield Health membership scheme including cashback schemes for health and retail benefits, discounted gym memberships, and free confidential advice.

- Access to National College CPD platform.

For further information, please contact Janine Dix (Executive Headteacher) on [email protected] or Sally Petcher Head of School on [email protected]. Janine can be called at any time (this includes evenings or weekends) on 07548 837342.

We reserve the right to interview suitable candidates upon application and may close the application process prior to this date

Esteem Multi-Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its students. We expect all staff, volunteers and agency staff to share this commitment. Esteem Multi-Academy Trust’s Safeguarding Policy applies to all adults, including volunteers and agency staff, working in or on behalf of the MAT. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from all individuals, regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, marriage and civil partnership status.

Perfection is not required, if you are excited by the role and our organisation, but not sure if you meet 100% of the criteria, we would still love to hear from you!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
