Join Our Team as a Pastoral Support Officer at Astrea Academy Woodfields!

Are you passionate about supporting young people to succeed both inside and outside the classroom? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same? Astrea Academy Woodfields is seeking a dedicated and resilient Pastoral Support Officer to join our pastoral team and play a key role in creating a positive, safe and supportive learning environment for all scholars.

About the Role: As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting scholar wellbeing, behaviour and engagement. Working closely with our Pastoral Year Leads and wider pastoral team, you will help maintain our high expectations, support behaviour systems, liaise with families and external agencies, and ensure scholars receive the support they need to thrive. Your work will have a direct impact on the day-to-day experiences and success of our scholars.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Scholar Success: Work proactively with scholars, staff and families to promote positive behaviour, attendance and wellbeing.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies to ensure scholars receive the right support at the right time.
  • Maintain High Standards: Support the implementation of academy behaviour systems, including detention processes, suspension administration and reintegration support.
  • Pastoral Administration: Maintain accurate records, monitor attendance, produce reports and ensure pastoral information is managed effectively.
  • Support Learning and Inclusion: Help provide a positive environment where scholars can focus on learning and achieve their full potential.

What We're Looking For:

  • Passionate About Young People: You believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed and are committed to supporting their wellbeing and development.
  • Excellent Communicator: You can build positive relationships with scholars, families, colleagues and external partners.
  • Organised and Resilient: You can balance competing priorities, work under pressure and remain solution-focused.
  • Values-Driven: You are committed to safeguarding, inclusion and the values of Astrea Academy Trust.
  • Team Player: You enjoy collaborating with others and building strong professional relationships to achieve the best outcomes for scholars.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and collaborative pastoral team.
  • Extensive professional development and career progression opportunities.
  • Access to high-quality Trust-wide training and development.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people.
  • A values-led culture focused on high expectations, inclusion and scholar success.
  • Membership of the South Yorkshire Pension Authority pension scheme.
  • The chance to work within a growing and ambitious multi-academy trust.

Astrea Academy Woodfields is committed to providing an inclusive, aspirational and academic education for every scholar. We believe that strong pastoral support is fundamental to success and are looking for someone who shares our commitment to ensuring every young person feels safe, supported and able to fulfil their potential. Working alongside a dedicated team of professionals, you will help create a culture that is warm, strict, disciplined and joyful, where scholars can thrive and succeed.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.
