Receptionist
Salary: Essex Scale 5 Point 10 - 13 £25,128.65 - £26,371.55 actual salary per annum (Plus £661.42 additional fringe allowance per annum)
37 hours per week Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 4.00 pm; Friday 8.00am - 3.30 pm (30 minutes unpaid lunch break)
40 weeks of the year - term time, inset days plus 2 additional weeks

We are seeking an enthusiastic Receptionist to become the welcoming face of our secondary school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, providing excellent customer service, and playing a key role in supporting students, staff, parents and visitors.
As the first point of contact for our school, you will provide a warm and professional welcome while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the reception and administrative functions. From managing enquiries and maintaining student records to supporting school events and coordinating key administrative processes, you will be an integral part of our dedicated support team.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can remain calm, approachable and professional in a busy environment.
- Has strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Is confident using IT systems and databases.
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.
In this role, you will:
- Welcome visitors and manage front-of-house reception services.
- Handle telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries.
- Maintain student and admissions records.
- Provide a wide range of administrative support across the school.
- Support the organisation of school events and activities.
- Work collaboratively with staff to ensure an exceptional experience for pupils, parents and visitors.

BCHS is located in the heart of Brentwood, near the town centre, a short distance from the train station, which is 25 minutes from Liverpool Street Station. The school also includes a large sixth form campus and achievements at KS5 have been a key strength at BCHS. Parking is available on-site and there are good transport links by both rail and bus. BCHS is just over two miles from the M25.
