The posting

An excellent opportunity to join our vibrant Science Faculty. The ideal candidate will have a Science degree or equivalent qualification and a keen interest in Science. Previous experience of working as a Science technician or in a similar role would be advantageous but is not essential as full training can be provided. Strong communication and organisational skills are key to this position.

The Science Technicians are an integral part of the faculty, providing valuable support to the Biology, Chemistry and Physics teaching staff. The Science Block is a new, purpose-built building with 12 high-specification teaching laboratories and bespoke preparation rooms on each of its 3 floors.

Ofsted (2024) commented “Pupils’ enthusiasm and excitement towards their learning is evident…Pupils conduct and manners are exemplary. They help and support their peers to do well. It is common practice to hold doors open for others and behave in a friendly, courteous manner. Adults enforce clear learning routines. Pupils sensibly transition between activities".

The role is offered as part-time, working 21 hours per week during the school term time and INSET days. We can provide some flexibility in the working pattern; however, the successful candidate must be available to work on Thursdays.

We can offer:

  • A competitive salary with London fringe allowance and Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Bespoke CPD to suit your career goals
  • Staff well-being initiatives include an online GP service, an Employee Assistance Programme, subsidised use of an on-site electric vehicle charging and complimentary use of a new on-site fitness suite.
  • An admission policy prioritising the children of staff (conditions will apply).
  • Lovely school grounds in leafy surroundings with ample parking.

Parmiter’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all members of staff to share this commitment. Applicants must declare any criminal convictions as the post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointments will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via the Disclosure and Barring Service and references from previous employers. We are required to conduct online searches for shortlisted candidates in accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance in order to identify any incidents or concerns which are publicly available online. We are an Equal Opportunities employer.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
