Are you an ambitious, empathetic, and visionary educator who believes there is no barrier to education that cannot be overcome? Are you ready to step into a high-impact leadership role where you can truly re-engage young people with their learning, transform life chances, and champion educational equity?
- Do you feel like you ought to be working in an organisation that changes lives for the community it serves?
- Do you want to work in a school where staff enrich the minds and enable the success of the young people they work with?
- Do you want to work in a school that prides itself on making a difference?
We are seeking a SEMH Specialist Resource Base (SRB) Lead Teacher to inspire, strategically develop, and lead our secondary provision. Based at Sewell Park Academy you will act as the crucial strategic bridge between our school, the Local Authority’s linked Adviser, and the wider community.
At Sewell Park Academy, we strive to ‘enrich minds and enable success’ for the students that we serve. Our mission is to ensure that our students leave with the qualifications needed to succeed in their next stages of their lives, but also be healthy, safe and be able to develop strong relationships. We have built a culture where staff want to stay and students want to come. So much so that 100% of staff said that ‘our school has a culture of learning: students are ready, willing and able to learn’ and we have had a turnover rate for teaching staff of just 2% in the last three years. We have been over-subscribed for each of the last 5 years.
We are seeking an approachable, trauma-informed leader who thrives under pressure, communicates with clarity, and brings a solution-focused mindset to complex challenges. You will hold high expectations for young people and possess a deep understanding of how trauma and SEMH needs impact learning and behaviour.
Why This Role?
In this pivotal position, you won't just lead a setting - you will cultivate an inclusive environment of safety, belonging, and high expectations. You will lead a dedicated team in dismantling barriers to learning, designing an ambitious curriculum, and delivering trauma-informed interventions that empower young people to succeed and transition smoothly back into mainstream education or specialised pathways.
As a vital part of Norfolk’s Alternative Provision Strategy, our base provides targeted support to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education. In this role, you won't just manage daily operations - you will act as a trusted anchor for students, families, and staff, building an environment rooted in equity, high expectations, and belonging.
What You Will Do:
- Drive Strategic Vision: Provide dynamic operational management and strategic direction for the SEMH SRB, ensuring every pupil makes exceptional progress.
- Shape the Curriculum & Culture: Build and deliver a broad, balanced, and ambitious curriculum and intervention programme, underpinned by robust behaviour and relationships policies tailored to SEMH needs.
- Lead & Empower a High-Performing Team: Line manage, mentor, and inspire staff within the base, driving high-quality CPD, training, and continuous professional growth.
- Collaborate for Success: Work hand-in-hand with parents/carers, home schools, external agencies, and the Local Authority to oversee admissions, design Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), and lead solution-focused transitions.
- Champion Inclusion & Safety: Maintain exemplary safeguarding standards (working closely with home school DSLs), embrace diversity, and create a safe space where every young person is heard.
