The posting

Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, together with Goonhavern School, are seeking to appoint an exceptional and passionate Class Teacher and SENDCo to join our nurturing village school community.

Goonhavern School is a warm, welcoming and ambitious one-form entry primary school at the heart of its community. We are proud of the strong relationships we build with our children, families and wider community, and we place inclusion, belonging and high aspirations at the centre of everything we do.

This unique role combines teaching within a Year 2 class on a job-share basis with leadership of SEND provision across the school. Working closely with the Headteacher, staff team, families and external agencies, the successful candidate will lead and develop our inclusive practice, ensuring that pupils with special educational needs receive the support, challenge and opportunities they need to flourish both academically and personally.

We are looking for someone who will champion the needs of children with SEND, drive high standards of provision across the school and support colleagues to deliver inclusive, high-quality teaching for all learners. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping our SEND strategy, monitoring pupil progress, developing staff expertise and strengthening partnerships with parents and external professionals.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher and aspiring or established SENDCo to make a lasting difference within a school that values collaboration, innovation and the success of every child.

About You:

You will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a genuine passion for inclusion and a relentless commitment to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential. You will believe that pupils with SEND deserve the very highest aspirations and will be driven to secure positive outcomes for children through high-quality teaching, effective provision and strong partnerships with families.

As our SENDCo, you will be a visible advocate for children with additional needs, championing their interests and ensuring that inclusion remains at the heart of school life. You will have a strong understanding of how to remove barriers to learning and will work proactively with staff to develop inclusive classroom practice, enabling all pupils to feel valued, supported and successful.

You will be an effective communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of building trusting relationships with families and who is committed to working in partnership to achieve the very best outcomes for children. You will be approachable, empathetic and solution-focused, recognising that successful inclusion is built on strong, positive relationships.

As a member of our team, you will embrace the unique role that Goonhavern School plays within its village community. You will be excited to contribute to the wider life of the school, working alongside dedicated colleagues and supportive families to ensure that every child feels known, valued and inspired to succeed.

Most importantly, you will share our belief that inclusion is everyone's responsibility. You will bring enthusiasm, determination and a commitment to continuous improvement, helping to raise standards for pupils with SEND and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Benefits of Working with Us:

As a leading Academy Trust, we are able to offer our staff a range of continued professional development opportunities alongside family friendly policies and access to the Local Government/Teachers Pension Schemes. More on our benefits can be found here.

Successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application as part of their pre-employment administration. The amendments to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
