The posting

Join a thriving, ambitious academy and help us to make a difference to the lives of the people in our community.

Are you a creative, inspirational and talented musician who wants to make a difference to the lives of our students?

Do you have what it takes to share your passion for music and enable students to discover their hidden talents, and excite them to appreciate the world of music and performance?

Joseph Leckie Academy are seeking to appoint an excellent classroom practitioner who is an enthusiastic, innovative and engaging teacher of Music to join a dynamic and expanding subject and faculty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher.
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
  • To share and support the Academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
  • Support and maintain collaborative relationships with staff and external professionals.
  • The successful candidate must hold QTS or equivalent and an honours degree in Music or related subject.

We would welcome applications from teachers early in their careers through to experienced staff

As an expanding Academy there will be opportunities to grow the subject, courses and develop the Music Department and we envisage that the role will evolve under the right leadership. We are fully committed to Music as an integral part of the curriculum and to enrich the lives of our students.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection (February 2026) recognised the strength of our provision, noting:

  • “Every pupil who walks through the door of Joseph Leckie Academy is treated as an individual with potential.”
  • “Leaders are ambitious for all pupils and are relentless in their drive to ensure that their needs are met.”
  • “School leaders are passionate about improving pupils' life chances.”

This is an exciting opportunity to join a school with strong standards and a culture built on high expectations, inclusion and continuous improvement.

Why join Joseph Leckie Academy?

You will be part of a school where:

  • Inclusion is a genuine strength — “leaders work closely with families… to support pupils to thrive both academically and socially”.
  • Staff are well supported and part of a skilled and collaborative team.
  • Students are engaged, respectful and proud of their school.
  • There is a clear commitment to continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Staff across the Academy are friendly and supportive.
  • High levels of staff retention.
  • A high focus on staff well-being with staff social events, gym access, school counsellor, well-being coordinator for staff and an employee assistance programme.
  • A large Academy with high standards and an ambitious desire to better the lives of our students and impact further on our wider community.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
