The posting

Devonshire Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Level 4 (TA4) who is passionate about making a meaningful difference to children’s lives.

This is a temporary position from 02/11/2026 to 31/08/2027, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time plus one week (5 inset days).

The role of TA4 at Devonshire Primary Academy is both varied and rewarding, involving whole-school cover from Preschool through to Year 6. This provides a unique opportunity to build strong relationships across all age groups and to support children at every stage of their educational journey. Due to the dynamic nature of school life, the role requires a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness, as priorities can change quickly. The successful candidate will embrace this with enthusiasm, adapting confidently to ensure that learning remains purposeful, consistent and centered on the needs of every child.

At Devonshire, the child is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every child deserves to feel valued, understood and supported to thrive, not only academically, but socially and emotionally. Through our bespoke Devonshire curriculum, we carefully design learning experiences that nurture the whole child, ensuring that individual needs are recognised and met so that every pupil can flourish.

Our approach is rooted in the belief that children learn best when they feel safe, confident and inspired. We purposefully create opportunities for pupils to develop resilience, independence and strong relationships, alongside acquiring the knowledge and skills needed for academic success. While we take great care to support each child’s unique journey, this sits alongside our unwavering commitment to exceptionally high expectations for behaviour, attitudes to learning and achievement.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences across the school, engaging pupils and supporting them to overcome barriers so they can succeed both personally and academically. You will contribute to a culture where all children are encouraged to take pride in themselves, show respect for others and strive for excellence.

At Devonshire Primary Academy, we are proud of our warm, inclusive and aspirational community. Our staff work collaboratively to ensure the very best outcomes for our children and we are committed to supporting professional development so that every member of our team can grow and thrive.

We are inviting applications from candidates who:

• Meet or are working towards the professional standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistants; or have or be working towards a relevant Foundation Degree

• Have a strong understanding of how children learn and develop holistically, recognising the importance of nurturing pupils socially, emotionally and academically

• Demonstrate a genuine commitment to placing the child at the centre of all practice, ensuring every pupil feels valued, understood and valued

• Can plan adaptively and deliver engaging, purposeful learning experiences that remove barriers and enable all children to succeed and flourish

• Have consistently high expectations for all pupils, particularly in relation to behaviour, attitudes to learning and academic achievement

• Are skilled in building positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, resilience and independence in children

• Can motivate and inspire pupils to develop a love of learning and a belief in their own potential

• Have excellent behaviour management skills, underpinned by a calm, consistent and restorative approach

• Are reflective practitioners who are committed to continually improving outcomes for children

• Work effectively as part of a team, contributing positively to a collaborative and supportive school culture

• Are flexible, resilient and enthusiastic, embracing opportunities to contribute to the wider life of the school and its ongoing improvement

• Share our belief that every child can succeed, and are driven to ensure no child is left behind

We can offer you:

• The opportunity to make a genuine difference to children’s lives by supporting their development as confident, resilient and successful learners

• A warm, inclusive and child-centred school community where relationships are valued and every individual matters

• A committed, collaborative and highly supportive staff team who work together to achieve the very best outcomes for all pupils

• The chance to contribute to our bespoke Devonshire curriculum, where learning is purposeful, engaging and designed to meet the needs of every child

• A culture of high expectations, where excellence in behaviour, attitudes and achievement is both supported and celebrated

• Strong, visible leadership with a clear vision centred on improving outcomes for every child

• High-quality professional development, with opportunities to grow your skills and progress within your role

• A commitment to staff wellbeing, including a focus on manageable workloads and a supportive working environment

• The opportunity to work in a school at the heart of its community, dedicated to providing the very best opportunities for its children

• Dedicated weekly PPA time

• The option to purchase a new bicycle and cycling equipment via salary sacrifice making tax and national insurance savings

• Free onsite parking

• Term time employment, allowing you to spend school holidays with family

• Enrolment into a pension scheme – employees do not pay tax or national insurance on their pension contributions and the school add a generous employer contribution

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
