We are looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to join the DR-Delivery team in Ljubljana. This role is for someone early in their career who wants to grow fast by working on real, business-critical backend systems alongside experienced engineers.
Our main Engineering challenges at Teads
- Build efficient and easy-to-use web products used by thousands of users working for the world’s most premium publishers, advertisers, and agencies.
- Rich and diverse tech stack and system architecture to optimize for performance, scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency. We use mostly Scala and TypeScript, among others.
- Working in a very high-traffic environment (2.2 billion users per month, 100 billion events per day) with low latency and high availability constraints (2 million requests per second, responses in less than 150 milliseconds).
- Management of large datasets with milliseconds order of magnitude access time, to compute in a near real-time complex auction resolution algorithm (18 million predictions per second).
- A fast-changing environment where we continuously collaborate with Product teams and constantly adapt our Cloud infrastructure for new features and Products.
- Bring a wide diversity of profiles to the same level of quality and knowledge
- Work in an international environment with offices located in Israel, Slovenia and France.
Team Overview
The DR-Delivery team is in charge of ad serving: the backend systems that decide which ads get delivered, where, and how budgets are spent. The team also owns a platform that runs and manages ML models, which makes it a place where classic high-scale backend work meets machine learning.
Our systems run at high scale with strict latency and availability requirements, and their output reaches publishers and advertisers around the world. The team is made up of strong, experienced engineers who own their systems end-to-end, from design to production, and we are looking for a junior engineer to grow alongside them. We are a hybrid team split between Ljubljana and Israel, so you'll work closely with colleagues across both sites.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services that power ad delivery and spend, in Go, Java and Scala.
- Work with data systems such as MySQL, Kafka, HDFS and BigQuery to build, debug and analyze delivery flows and data pipelines.
- Contribute to the backend platform that runs and manages ML models, and learn how ML systems are operated in production.
- Take ownership of small-to-medium features end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment and monitoring.
- Investigate and resolve delivery and spend issues in production, learning how to debug distributed systems with the help of senior teammates.
- Write clean, well-tested code and take part in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Collaborate with Product, with other engineering teams, and with teammates across Ljubljana and Israel to deliver changes that improve delivery and campaign performance.
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation after an onboarding period, with support from senior teammates.
What will you bring to the team?
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent training.
- Solid programming fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OOP) and hands-on experience in at least one backend language. Go, Java or Scala is a plus.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Curiosity about how large-scale, high-traffic distributed systems work.
- An ownership mindset: you take initiative, communicate proactively, and follow through.
- A willingness to learn, ask questions and embrace change.
- Good English communication skills
- Bonus Points: 1-2 years of hands-on backend experience. Internships, working student roles and substantial side projects all count. Exposure to messaging or streaming systems such as Kafka. Familiarity with big data tooling (HDFS, Spark, BigQuery or similar). Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
