The posting

Vice President of Product

Confidential Search | Healthcare Technology

About the Company

Our client is a growing healthcare technology company helping cancer care teams turn fragmented clinical information into better-informed decisions. Its platform supports multidisciplinary collaboration, care planning, and access to relevant treatment and research options, while helping healthcare and life sciences organizations derive value from complex clinical data.

The company is at an inflection point. Its clinical workflows, data assets, and emerging AI capabilities create an opportunity to expand from workflow software into intelligence infrastructure for cancer care. The Vice President of Product will lead that transition.

The Role

You will own product strategy, roadmap, and delivery across the platform, with particular emphasis on AI, clinical data products, and health system integrations.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will define a defensible multiyear strategy and drive the work required to deliver it: writing requirements, partnering closely with engineering, joining customer conversations, and maintaining accountability for quality and timelines. You will manage and grow a product team while remaining directly involved in product development.

The central challenge is turning raw clinical data into usable information—and then into products clinicians and life sciences organizations trust, adopt, and pay for.

What You Will Own

1. Product Strategy and Business Outcomes

Own a 12-month roadmap and three-year platform vision tied to revenue, retention, and expansion.

Build the business case for major investments, including market opportunity, target buyer, pricing, and competitive differentiation.

Assess the competitive landscape across registry automation, clinical abstraction, trial matching, real-world data, and EHR-native tools.

Partner with the CEO and board on platform decisions that create opportunities for partnerships, distribution, and acquisitions.

2. Execution and Delivery

Establish continuous customer discovery alongside a predictable delivery cadence.

Write clear requirements, make disciplined scope decisions, and deliver meaningful improvements in weeks.

Own release quality, launch readiness, and adoption after launch.

Establish a focused set of product metrics that makes progress and outcomes visible across the company.

3. Clinical Data Products

Own the strategy for converting heterogeneous clinical source data into structured, longitudinal, analysis-ready patient records.

Define requirements across ingestion, parsing of unstructured notes and reports, entity extraction, normalization, and deduplication.

Drive semantic standardization using relevant clinical terminologies, including ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, CPT/HCPCS, and oncology-specific staging and biomarker vocabularies.

Establish measurable standards for completeness, concordance, freshness, and lineage, with clear thresholds for clinical and research use.

Translate the data asset into products supporting cohort discovery, guideline and trial matching, quality reporting, and life sciences research.

Partner with legal, clinical, and security leaders on appropriate consent, de-identification, tokenization, and data access models.

4. AI Products Clinicians Trust

Own the AI roadmap and prioritize use cases with clear clinical and commercial value.

Establish evaluation standards before scaling, including reference datasets, use-case-specific precision and recall targets, clinician review, and regression testing.

Incorporate human review and clear limitations into product design.

Partner with clinical, legal, and security teams on model documentation, bias and drift monitoring, customer transparency, and evolving regulatory expectations.

5. EHR and Health System Integrations

Own the integration product strategy across major EHR platforms, including HL7 v2, FHIR and bulk FHIR, C-CDA, flat files, SFTP, and appropriate read/write workflows.

Reduce implementation time through reusable connectors, configuration-driven approaches, and clear requirements before implementation begins.

Turn recurring integration challenges into scalable platform capabilities.

Anticipate interoperability developments—including information blocking, TEFCA, and applicable certification and API requirements—and incorporate them into product planning.

6. Customer, Clinical, and Commercial Partnership

Spend time with clinicians, health system leaders, implementation teams, and life sciences customers to understand their workflows and buying priorities.

Build a customer advisory process that informs concrete product decisions.

Partner with Sales and Marketing on positioning, packaging, pricing, and enablement.

Serve as a credible product leader in enterprise sales conversations and executive briefings.

Support life sciences partnerships and provide product and technical input into corporate development opportunities as needed.

7. Team and Organizational Leadership

Recruit, coach, and retain a strong product team.

Set clear expectations for written thinking, customer evidence, prioritization, and accountability.

Build an effective operating rhythm across Product, Engineering, Clinical Informatics, Implementation, and Customer Success.

Resolve competing priorities quickly and communicate decisions clearly.

Deliver concise board materials, roadmap reviews, and customer-facing product narratives.

Qualifications

Required

10+ years in product management, including 4+ years leading product teams in health IT, digital health, clinical data, or life sciences technology.

Demonstrated ownership of production EHR and health system integrations, with a practical understanding of implementation barriers and how to overcome them.

Strong fluency in healthcare data, including HL7 v2, FHIR, C-CDA, clinical terminologies, and de-identification.

A track record of turning unstructured or inconsistent clinical data into reliable, commercially valuable products.

Hands-on experience shipping AI/ML or NLP capabilities in clinical or regulated settings, including evaluation methods and human-in-the-loop design.

Evidence of both strategic judgment and execution: products you personally helped define, launch, and grow, supported by measurable results.

Enterprise B2B experience serving health systems and working directly with physician leaders and executive buyers.

Working knowledge of HIPAA, data use agreements, and enterprise privacy and security reviews.

Preferred

Deep oncology domain knowledge.

Experience building real-world data or evidence products for pharmaceutical or life sciences customers.

Experience in a growth-stage company, with the resourcefulness and adaptability that environment requires.

A clinical, informatics, or bioinformatics background, or an advanced degree in a related field.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
