The posting

Technical Engineering Support (TES) is an engineering services company with over 30 years of experience, specializing in test coordination and industrial commissioning. TES also supports its clients in engineering studies and the assembly coordination of industrial equipment.

As part of our expanding activities on major infrastructure projects, we are currently looking for a Senior Cost Engineer (m/f) to serve as a technical lead within our project controls organization.

Acting as a subject matter expert within the Cost and Forecasting team for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear power station project, the Senior Cost Engineer ensures the uniform implementation of the cost management strategy across designated project areas. You will oversee the delivery of specific contracts ranging in value from £10m to £500m, direct the daily workload of Cost Engineers and Trainee Cost Engineers, and serve as the main face of cost management to Program Directors and key stakeholders.

This role actively underpins success across Engineering, Procurement & Manufacturing, Construction, and Commissioning phases, aligning with HPC critical success factors:

  • Integrated baseline delivery
  • EPC critical path execution
  • Key milestone achievement leading to Commercial Operation Date (COD)

Operating Environment Context:

  • Highly regulated context under the oversight of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).
  • Deep integration of Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Strict adherence to project priorities: Safety, Quality, Time, and Cost.

Key responsabilities :

  1. Technical Leadership & Team Guidance: Direct daily tasks and provide technical guidance to Cost Engineers and Trainee Cost Engineers. Lead training sessions on cost management software and processes for project management teams.
  2. Contract & Data Management: Oversee cost and forecast data across high-value contract portfolios (£10m–£500m) in alignment with CBS/WBS. Ensure data integrity within systems such as EcoSys and SAP.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement & Decision Support: Partner with Program/Area Directors to review major issues, lead scenario planning workshops, and present accurate insights at Board Meetings, Program Reviews, and ROTCS.
  4. Trend & Risk Integration: Work alongside Risk Leads and Project Controls Managers to connect cost data with schedule, risk, and change management, ensuring high-quality risk information informs baseline estimates.
  5. Reporting & Dashboards: Manage and verify data outputs within Power BI dashboards and ensure high-quality cost reporting across defined cycles.
  6. Governance & Information Security: Support good governance, process enhancement, and strict compliance with protective marking for Sensitive Nuclear Information.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Education: Minimum HND (or equivalent qualification/degree) in Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, or a related field. Cost & Forecasting specific qualifications are preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of senior-level experience in a Cost and Forecasting role within a complex, highly regulated industry (energy, nuclear, major infrastructure).
  • Expertise: Proven track record of managing multi-stakeholder interfaces, technical leadership, and active integration across project controls disciplines.

Desirable:

  • Direct experience on major complex construction projects.
  • Prior nuclear industry experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Software Tools :

  • Software Expertise: Advanced user and trainer in EcoSys, SAP, Power BI, Teamcenter, and MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Access).
  • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to simplify complex financial and technical scenarios for executive-level audiences.
  • Leadership: Strong delegation, coaching, interpersonal, and stakeholder-influencing capabilities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
