Here's a Glimpse of the Job
The Research Scientist will be responsible for conducting complex independent research in their field of expertise. The Research Scientist will utilize techniques and strategies taught to them by their education and experiences to work towards solving the question presented by their research project. Writes and contributes to research papers, articles, and publications. Will collaborate with other researchers and/or faculty.
Opportunities to Contribute
- Oversee the preparation and cleaning of worksite.
- Organize worksite and determine what supplies are necessary to continue research in an effective manner.
- Analyze research data and summarize results.
- Assist with grant acquisition.
- Assist student researchers, Postdoctoral Research Associates, Assistant Research Scientists, and/or Associate Research Scientists who are working on research related to the project.
- May supervise assigned staff and/or students.
- Prepare presentation materials on research topics that may be presented to small and/or large groups.
- Participate in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.
Qualifications:
- PhD in a related field.
- Six years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research.
- BSL-2 training and experience.
- Mouse and rat handling, injections, euthanasia, and necropsy training and experience.
A well-qualified candidate may also possess:
- Experience with analysis of proteomics data.
- Knowledge of innate immune system.
- Experience writing papers.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, immunostaining, western blots.
- Experience with drug development programs and preclinical drug development work.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, presentation and analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
Special Note: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
Schedule: May have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours. May travel as required.
