Radar team in Dallas is looking for a mmWave Radar Application Engineer to become a part of its HPR HW Applications team that supports Radar portfolio across Automotive and Industrial markets. Radar BU is performance innovators in integrated RFCMOS radar technology offering industry leading broadest 60/77GHz portfolio. We have a competent team with strong commitment and a great team spirit. We are looking for a passionate engineering professional with experience in mmWave sensors and RF products systems and applications support

Applications engineers at TI serve as technical experts on a given product family or portfolio and its use cases. This function may be deployed or organized by end equipment or sector to drive a deeper understanding of such applications and enable them to best support our sales team and customers in designing our devices into their products. Applications engineers will partner with Systems and Marketing teams to deliver collateral, supporting documentation, tools and/or software that accelerate customers' development time and drive design WINs. They will also play an important role in ramping new target end-equipments by showcasing the features of a given product portfolio in a new context or application.

Applications engineers also provide pre- and post-sales support to our customers through E2E forums and by partnering with Sales teams on assigned and unassigned accounts. At times, they may also assist customer quality engineers when evaluating customer returns by recreating issues on the bench, setting up the device in the FA lab for probe and debug, or developing a test improvement plan.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Apply mmWave and RF knowledge to design 60/77GHz radar products into automotive and industrial customer systems.
  • Design EVM, socket boards, and review customer board designs schematics and layouts.
  • Support customer returned silicon with bench debug closely working with Design, PE, Quality and Systems team.
  • Project manage all EVM deliverables from setting up Galileo and SAP tools to engaging with TI EVM planners.
  • Provide E2E and customer support and technical guidance to the field engineers for the best working solution of TI products in customer systems.
  • Design and develop RF/mmWave solutions and provide design recommendations to specific end equipment customers.
  • Perform Radar and host processors bench-level measurements.
  • Create product collateral such as datasheet, errata, applications note, users guide, technical reference manual, etc.
  • Develop and drive innovation in the applications team to support existing and future devices and customers.
  • Work in close collaboration with marketing, system, design, system architects, and production test engineers’ teams to make sure that the products have the expected functionality and datasheet performance satisfactory to our customers’ needs. Work with design, marketing and product definition teams to successfully launch new products into the market
  • Promote TI products and providing appropriate technical solutions to customers to solve their design challenges
  • Provide technical support to customers
  • Engage with customers to help them define new products and uncover opportunities for future product development
  • Act as a technical bridge between the customer and factory to help solve complex technical problems or develop competitive, high-performance working proposals for customers
  • Support the customer's technical seminars and distributor training sessions

Qualifications

Minimum requirements

  • Masters in Electrical Engineering, ECE, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 5+ years of experience and with proven history of technical accomplishment
  • Experience in PCB design tools such as Altium or Cadence
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of RF, analog, mixed-signal and high-speed digital circuits.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of transmission lines, RF matching, power management, Cascading -MIMO techniques.
  • Experience in designing evaluation boards at mmWave frequencies and PCB best practices at RF frequencies.
  • Working experience with tools such as ANSYS HFSS, Keysight ADS, Allegro, Altium and MATLAB.
  • Experience with lab equipment, like spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work towards a deadline.
  • Able to work proactively on identifying problems and solve them.
