The posting
As our Senior Electromechanical Technician, you'll serve as a technical authority within the workshop, supporting the development of prototype, pre-production and low-volume manufacturing systems.
You'll work in fast-paced development environments where designs and specifications are often evolving, applying your practical expertise, engineering judgement and initiative to safely and effectively progress builds whilst supporting continuous improvement across our products and processes.
With 70-80% of your time spent on practical build, integration, testing and fault-finding activities, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on and close to the technology.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the build, integration, testing and commissioning of complex machinery, automation systems and robotic equipment.
- Taking ownership of technical problem-solving and fault resolution during development and build activities.
- Building, assembling, wiring and testing electromechanical systems, control panels, harnesses and associated equipment to a consistently high standard.
- Working from electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, build packs, bills of materials and technical specifications.
- Identifying discrepancies, omissions and opportunities for improvement within engineering documentation and designs.
- Integrating sensors, motors, drives, actuators, controllers and communication hardware as part of wider system builds.
- Collaborating closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and Software Engineers to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Supporting prototype and development projects where information may be incomplete or evolving, applying sound judgement to keep progress moving safely and effectively.
- Providing practical feedback to improve manufacturability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability.
- Supporting and sharing knowledge with less experienced colleagues across the workshop and engineering teams.
What you'll bring
- A time-served apprenticeship in Electrical, Electromechanical or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Significant hands-on experience building, wiring, integrating and commissioning industrial machinery, automation equipment, robotic systems or special-purpose machinery.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across complex electromechanical systems.
- The ability to confidently work from engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- A practical, solutions-focused mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working in prototype, development or highly customised manufacturing environments.
- The confidence to work with ambiguity and changing priorities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- A strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering excellence.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to support and mentor others.
