About the Role

The SEO Specialist will play a vital role within The Advocates’ in-house marketing team, owning and executing organic search strategies across the firm’s digital presence. The role’s primary focus will be on driving high-intent organic traffic, local search visibility, and qualified inbound leads through technical site optimization, targeted keyword and content strategy, and local SEO across our key markets.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with technical website audits, Google Search Console, Google Analytics (GA4), WordPress, and SEO platforms (e.g., Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog), along with a strong understanding of how organic performance connects to lead conversion.

The SEO Specialist will report directly to the Director of Marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute technical, on-page, and off-page SEO strategies to increase organic search rankings and drive inbound legal inquiries.
  • Perform regular technical website audits to identify and resolve issues related to crawlability, site speed, indexing, Core Web Vitals, and site architecture.
  • Manage and optimize Local SEO strategy across all regional markets, including Google Business Profiles, local citation consistency, and localized content.
  • Conduct thorough keyword research and content gap analysis to guide new content creation and improve rankings for competitive, high-intent legal keywords.
  • Coordinate with the creative and content teams to ensure all new and existing web content, blog posts, and landing pages are optimized for both search engines and user conversion.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on organic performance metrics—including keyword rankings, organic traffic, bounce rates, and cost per lead—using GA4 and Google Search Console.
  • Maintain focus on search engine algorithm updates, search marketing best practices, and legal industry trends to continuously refine performance.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of dedicated experience in search engine optimization (SEO) with a proven track record of growing organic search rankings and traffic (required)
  • Deep proficiency with Google Search Console, GA4, WordPress, Excel, and SEO tools such as Ahrefs, Semrush, or Screaming Frog (required)
  • Strong working knowledge of technical SEO, local search optimization, and on-page content strategies (required)
  • 2+ years of experience within a digital marketing agency or competitive legal/B2C sector (preferred)
  • Associate's degree or higher (preferred)
  • Motivated team player who isn't afraid to ask questions and take ownership of projects
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze organic trends, test strategies, and implement findings across key regional markets

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $75,000-90,000/ year
  • Health Coverage: Up to 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance (buy-up options available)
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with company matching
  • Commuter Benefits: ORCA Card program or reimbursed parking

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
