Job description

The Asia Group is now accepting applications for a Associate / Senior Associate to join our Taiwan office, based in Taipei.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., The Asia Group (“TAG”) is a strategic and capital advisory firm that positions clients – ranging from Fortune 100 multinationals to innovative startups – for success in established and emerging markets across the Indo-Pacific region. Our diverse team possesses decades of government and private sector experience with a work ethos that emphasizes teamwork, collegiality, creativity, entrepreneurialism, and mentorship.

TAG is seeking a highly motivated individual to support client servicing, research, and analysis efforts at the Associate level. This individual will work with members of the Taipei office and other TAG colleagues across the Indo-Pacific region as well as in TAG headquarters in Washington D.C. A successful applicant is expected to craft in-depth memoranda, develop actionable insights, deliver analytical briefings to clients and senior TAG staff, and provide logistical support for senior TAG staff and clients on needed basis.

Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in political science, public policy, international relations, or business administration. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree only but with significant relevant work experience will also be considered. Ideal candidates should possess a strong understanding of Taiwan and Indo-Pacific’s political, economic, and business landscapes. They should also be familiar with broader regional dynamics, including the effects of U.S. policy on Taiwan and the broader Indo-Pacific region, and be eager to work with other country practices on crosscutting deliverables.

All interested candidates must submit a cover letter, resume, and references via the application portal on our website. Due to the volume of applications received, responses from our recruiting team may be delayed. No phone calls or emails and whatsApp messages, please.

Job responsibilities

  • Supporting Taiwan office as well as senior TAG staff and partners in servicing clients by developing, crafting, and deploying high value-add deliverables such as memoranda, slide decks, and oral briefings.
  • Conducting timely market, industry, and political research and analysis, while building a strong and relevant information network within Taiwan.
  • Serving as a point of contact for TAG to coordinate with clients to schedule meetings, deliver insights, and provide other forms of support.
  • Contributing insights to multi-market reports and client memoranda.
  • Tracking market, industry, and political developments impacting client equities.
  • Providing logistical, travel, and event support for client engagements, as well as travel support for senior TAG staff.
  • Participating in events on TAG’s behalf with industry associations, think tanks, and similar institutions

Job requirements

  • A Master’s degree in political science, public policy, international relations, or business administration or equivalent work experience generating strong knowledge of the politics, business affairs, and/or economic dynamics of Taiwan.
  • At least three years of work experience, preferably including in government, in a client-servicing industry, and/or in government relations.
  • Strong familiarity with Taiwan market, political economic developments, and related geopolitical issues in the region.
  • High-level English (business) speaking and writing ability as well as strong research and editing skills.
  • Full professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. Must be able to conduct research on primary local Taiwan sources, including government reports, legislation, industry reports, and news articles.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with multiple tight deadlines.
  • Comfort using artificial intelligence tools – or excited to learn how – to increase efficiency, enhance analysis or deliverables, and generate innovative solutions.
  • Familiarity with generative AI platforms or a growth mindset toward emerging technologies is a plus.
  • Positive, professional attitude with a willingness to work hard and be a team player.
  • Openness to tackle new topics and projects outside one’s comfort zone, and strong attention to detail.

We value professionals who are proactive in exploring new ways to work smarter. Ideal candidates will be comfortable using artificial intelligence tools — or excited to learn how — to increase efficiency, enhance analysis or deliverables, and generate innovative solutions. Familiarity with generative AI platforms or a growth mindset toward emerging technologies is a plus.

Candidates must be eligible to work in Taiwan and are expected to work in-person at the TAG Taipei office five days per week.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
