Help Desk Technician | Houghton, MI

Salary Range: $47,000 - $72,000 depending on experience

This posting covers Help Desk Technician opportunities with manufacturers based in and around Houghton in Houghton County, within about 45 minutes of the city, including Baraga, Dollar Bay, Calumet, and Atlantic Mine.

The Opportunity

We collaborate with manufacturing firms in the Houghton area that seek skilled Help Desk Technicians. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and look for professionals who can contribute effectively. Usual Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming support calls, emails, and tickets from plant and office staff.
  • Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, printer, and peripheral issues.
  • Reset passwords and manage user accounts in Active Directory.
  • Set up and image workstations for new hires and replacements.
  • Support shop floor devices such as scanners, label printers, and handheld terminals.
  • Escalate network and server issues to senior IT staff.
  • Document fixes and update the ticket system with resolution notes.
  • Walk users through basic software steps for email, ERP, and timekeeping systems.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting and clear phone communication skills.
  • Ability to follow ticket workflows and document work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • to 3 years of help desk or desktop support experience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365.
  • Basic Active Directory user and password management.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with imaging tools and device deployment.
  • CompTIA A+ or similar certification.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or warehouse environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP or timekeeping systems.
  • Basic network troubleshooting for cabling and switches.
