Reliability Engineer | Petoskey, MI

Salary Range: $79,000 - $119,000 depending on experience

This posting covers Reliability Engineer opportunities with manufacturers based in and around Petoskey in Emmet County, within about 45 minutes of the city, including Harbor Springs, Boyne City, Charlevoix, and East Jordan.

The Opportunity

We work with companies in the Petoskey area that add Reliability Engineers to their teams. These organizations value quality over speed in hiring. By connecting with us, you position yourself for opportunities that align with what you're looking for.

Usual Responsibilities

  • Monitor key metrics like MTBF, MTTR, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Recommend equipment upgrades and design changes to reduce failures.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and production teams on improvement projects.
  • Support spare parts planning and critical asset tracking.
  • Track equipment failures and downtime data to find repeat problems.
  • Lead root cause analysis on major breakdowns and chronic issues.
  • Build and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance plans.
  • Run reliability studies such as FMEA and failure analysis.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Strong data analysis skills using spreadsheets or similar tools.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis and reliability methods.
  • Familiarity with CMMS or maintenance management software.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Lean or Six Sigma training.
  • Background in continuous improvement or project management.
  • Experience with automated production equipment.
  • Certification in reliability engineering or maintenance management.
  • Experience with predictive technologies such as vibration analysis or thermography.
