Staff Accountant | Detroit, MI

Salary Range: $56,000 - $86,000 depending on experience

This posting covers Staff Accountant opportunities with manufacturers based in and around Detroit in Wayne County, within about 30 minutes of the city, including Hamtramck, Ferndale, Oak Park, and Grosse Pointe Park.

The Opportunity

We work with companies in the Detroit area that add Staff Accountants to their teams. These organizations value quality over speed in hiring. By connecting with us, you position yourself for opportunities that align with what you're looking for.

Usual Responsibilities

  • Support external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for month end close.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Assist with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold analysis.
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • to 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory valuation.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
  • CPA or CMA certification or progress toward certification.
